Product Overview
The Adder AVSC1102-US is a secure 2-port KVM switch built for environments where a single keyboard, monitor and mouse must be shared between high- and low-security systems — the classic "red and black network" requirement. As part of the ADDERView Secure Analogue Enhanced family, it combines an EAL4+ Common Criteria design and TEMPEST qualified construction with secure smartcard reader sharing for CAC and PIV workflows. Buyers searching for an EAL4 secure KVM switch, a TEMPEST qualified KVM switch with card reader, or a 2-port VGA secure desktop switch for government desks will find the AVSC1102 purpose-built for the task.
Product Description
Defense, intelligence and other classified-network desks routinely require operators to work across isolated networks without doubling up on monitors and input devices. The AVSC1102-US lets one console switch between two connected systems while hard-wired data diodes enforce unidirectional flow on critical data paths, preventing a compromised peripheral on one network from reading or transferring data belonging to another.

Channel switching is controlled exclusively from the front-panel buttons — no keyboard or mouse switching commands are accepted — so the selected channel is always physically evident to the operator. On every channel change, attached peripherals are powered down and re-initialized, defeating hidden peripheral malware that depends on persistent state. The Enhanced variant adds a dedicated USB port for a smartcard reader that is securely shared between the connected systems, plus anti-subversion features and unit authentication to verify the switch is genuine.

The switch minimizes reliance on software: one-time programmable storage replaces flash memory in all security-critical areas, eliminating the possibility of subversive reprogramming. Extensive shielding of the outer casing and internal circuitry reduces electromagnetic emissions and electrical crosstalk between channels, in keeping with its TEMPEST qualified design. Analog VGA video is supported at up to 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz across all known hardware platforms with VGA and USB HID or PS/2 connectivity. Shielded VSCD-series link cables are available to maintain emission screening end to end. Pair it with other secure switching and extension hardware from the Adder Technology collection at Creation Networks.
Key Features
- EAL4+ Common Criteria Design — Designed to meet Common Criteria EAL4+ (augmented by ALC_FLR.2 and ATE_DPT.2) for accredited deployment on classified desks.
- TEMPEST Qualified Construction — Qualified design referencing USA NSTISSAM Level I and NATO SDIP-27 Level A emission standards.
- Secure Smartcard Reader Sharing — A dedicated USB card-reader port is securely shared between the two connected systems for CAC/PIV authentication workflows.
- Hard-Wired Data Diodes — Unidirectional electronic circuitry on critical paths prevents one system from reading data or signaling through shared peripherals.
- Front-Panel-Only Switching — No hotkey or peripheral-initiated switching is permitted, so channel selection is always deliberate and visible.
- Peripheral Power-Down on Switch — Peripherals are powered down and re-initialized at every channel change to neutralize hidden peripheral malware.
- No Critical Software Reliance — One-time programmable storage in security-critical areas removes the attack surface of reprogrammable flash.
- High-Resolution Analog Video — Supports VGA video up to 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz with broad OS and platform compatibility.
Typical Applications
- Government space — single-console access to networks of differing classification levels.
- Commercial meeting space — secure switching between isolated corporate and guest systems at a shared console.
- Training room — controlled access to segregated training and operational networks from one desk.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the AVSC1102 different from a standard KVM switch?
It is engineered for security accreditation: data diodes enforce one-way data flow, switching is front-panel only, peripherals are re-initialized on every channel change, and security-critical firmware lives in one-time programmable storage.
Does it support a smartcard or CAC reader?
Yes. The Enhanced variant includes a dedicated USB port that securely shares a smartcard reader between the two connected systems.
What video connections does it use?
The AVSC1102 is an analog switch using HD-15 VGA connectors, supporting resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz.
Are special cables required?
Adder offers shielded VSCD-series link cables (VSCD5/6/7/9) constructed with braid and foil screening and fitted ferrite cores to preserve the unit's emission performance. Ferrite cores are also recommended on USB peripheral cables.
Is the AVSC1102 export-controlled?
Export restrictions apply to specific destination countries for secure KVM products. Contact us before ordering for international delivery.
Which operating systems are compatible?
The switch is platform-independent and supports Windows, Linux, Unix, BSD, Sun OS, Solaris, Mac OS, NetWare and other known operating systems.
