Product Overview

The Adder ALIF102T-HM is an ADDERLink INFINITY 102T HDMI ZeroU IP KVM transmitter that sends video, audio, and USB from a computer over a single CATx cable — occupying no rack space and powering itself from the host's USB ports. As a USB-powered HDMI KVM over IP transmitter, it carries spatially lossless video up to 2560x1600@60Hz across standard 1GbE networks to ADDERLink INFINITY receivers. The dongle-style ZeroU format suits dense server rooms where rack units and power outlets are at a premium.

Product Description

Instead of dedicating a rack shelf and PSU to each extender transmitter, the ALIF102T-HM hangs directly behind the server on a 300mm flying lead. It plugs into the computer's HDMI output and two USB 2.0 ports, which together provide both data and the unit's sub-3-watt power requirement. External and redundant 5V powering options are available for installations that demand them.

Adder ALIF102T-HM ADDERLink INFINITY 102T HDMI ZeroU IP KVM transmitter

Adder's spatially lossless encoding with 1:1 pixel mapping ensures the video delivered to the receiver matches the source exactly — pixel-perfect and color accurate, with support for dithered video from sources such as some Mac computers. USB 2.0 True Emulation accommodates graphics tablets, jog shuttles, joysticks, and 3D explorers alongside mass storage, and class control can disable non-HID devices so secure sites need not physically block ports. Digital audio runs as bi-directional USB stereo or uni-directional embedded stereo, and intelligent EDID management passes the monitor's true characteristics back to the computer for correct output without configuration.

ADDERLink INFINITY 102T HDMI transmitter connection detail

Each ALIF102T can run as a simple point-to-point extender or as part of a self-managed distributed KVM switch in which every receiver sees and rapidly switches among up to 16 sources. Adding the ADDERLink INFINITY Manager (AIM) scales the system into a full matrix where any workstation connects to any networked computer. The transmitter requires at least one ALIF receiver to operate; receivers, PoE splitters, and accessories are in the Adder Technology collection at Creation Networks.

Key Features

  • ZeroU Form Factor — The 55 x 25 x 110 mm dongle installs behind the server on its flying lead, consuming no rack units.
  • USB Powered — Operates on under 3 watts drawn from two USB 2.0 host ports; optional external or redundant 5V powering available.
  • Spatially Lossless Video — 1:1 pixel mapping delivers pixel-perfect, color-accurate HDMI video up to 2560x1600@60Hz with no artifacts.
  • USB 2.0 True Emulation with Class Control — Supports tablets, jog shuttles, joysticks, and storage devices, with non-HID blocking for secure applications.
  • Extender or 16-Source Switch — Works point-to-point or in a self-managed distributed KVM switch with up to 16 sources per receiver.
  • Matrix Scalability via AIM — The ADDERLink INFINITY Manager turns extenders into a scalable any-to-any digital KVM matrix.
  • Digital Audio — Bi-directional USB stereo (16-bit/48kHz) or uni-directional embedded stereo audio.
  • Dithered Video Support — Passes noisy or dithered video from sources including some Mac computers without degradation.
  • Plug and Play with EDID Management — Zero-configuration deployment, no drivers, automatic monitor characteristic passthrough.
  • High Reliability — 1,200,000-hour MTBF and 0-50 C operating range for always-on server rooms.

Typical Applications

  • Broadcast studio machine rooms feeding production workstations
  • Government space installations separating computers from operators
  • Training room source PCs centralized in equipment racks
  • Commercial meeting space systems served from a central rack room
  • Multi-purpose room installations sharing racked computers across stations

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the ALIF102T-HM work standalone?
No. It is a transmitter and requires at least one ADDERLink INFINITY receiver on the network to present the desktop at a user station.

What video sources does it support?
Any computer with an HDMI output, at resolutions up to 2560x1600@60Hz with 8 bits per channel. For DisplayPort sources, choose the ALIF102T-DP variant.

Does it need an external power supply?
Usually not — it draws under 3 watts from the host's two USB connections. External and redundant 5V powering options are available where required.

Can multiple users access multiple computers?
Yes. Without a manager, each receiver can switch among up to 16 ALIF102T sources; with the AIM manager, the system becomes a full matrix with central management and an API.

What cabling does it require?
CAT5e or better network cable, up to 100m / 328ft per 1GbE segment, chainable through standard network switches for greater total distance.

Can USB storage be blocked for security?
Yes. USB class control disables non-HID devices system-wide, so mass storage is prohibited without physically blocking ports.
