Product Overview
The AVPro Edge AC-MXNET-1G-HEX-UV2 is a USB 2.0 over IP host extender that delivers full-spectrum USB data and dynamic signaling across an MXnet 1G V2 network via a single PoE Ethernet connection. As the host-side half of a matched USB over IP extension pair, it works with one or more AC-MXNET-1G-DEX-UV2 device units to extend keyboards, mice, and touchscreens beyond the reach of standard USB cabling. This AVoIP USB extender is intended for command-and-control rooms, medical reading rooms, and shared conference spaces where a host PC needs to reach USB peripherals located elsewhere on the network. Installation is PoE-powered and rack- or wall-mountable for straightforward commercial AV integration.
Product Description
The AC-MXNET-1G-HEX-UV2 connects to a host computer or KVM source and transports USB 2.0 signals over a standard PoE network switch rather than a dedicated point-to-point cable. This USB over network extension approach removes the distance and topology limits of USB fiber extenders, since any HEX unit can be dynamically routed to any paired DEX unit through MXnet Mentor on the 1G V2 CBOX. The host unit provides a USB-C host port along with a dedicated USB-C service port for firmware updates and diagnostics. Because the HEX pairs with any MXnet 1G V2 decoder, integrators can combine USB-only extension with existing MXnet 1G V2 AVoIP video infrastructure on the same network switch, avoiding a parallel cabling system. An SFP slot supports fiber transceivers for runs up to 10 km, well past the 100-meter limit of copper Ethernet, which is useful for connecting host equipment in a central equipment room to endpoints spread across a large facility. PoE power delivery and an integrated OLED display for IP and MAC address identification simplify commissioning and rack management. Fanless convection cooling keeps the unit silent, which matters in host locations near a workstation, control room, or boardroom credenza.
Key Features
- USB 2.0 Over IP Host Extension — Extends full-spectrum USB 2.0 host connectivity over a standard PoE network instead of a dedicated point-to-point USB cable run.
- USB-C Host Port — Connects directly to a host PC or KVM source and can be dynamically rerouted through MXnet Mentor without re-cabling.
- Mixed MXnet V2 Deployment — Pairs with any MXnet 1G V2 decoder, allowing USB-only endpoints to share a network with existing AVoIP video infrastructure.
- Fiber-Ready SFP Slot — Supports an SFP fiber transceiver for distance extension up to 10 km beyond the 100-meter copper Ethernet limit.
- Power over Ethernet — PoE (IEEE 802.3af) eliminates the need for a local power supply at the host location.
- Integrated OLED Display — Shows IP and MAC address with custom device naming for fast identification during commissioning and service.
- Fanless Operation — Convection cooling delivers silent, energy-efficient operation suitable for host locations near occupied workspaces.
