Note that the NX1.5 uses a smaller SMD 1212 LED package, while NX1.8, NX2.5 and NX3.75 all use SMD 1515. The NX1.5 is also the only pitch in the range without a high-brightness variant, and its viewing angle is 150/150 rather than 160/160.

Size electrical service to the maximum figure, not the average - average draw reflects typical mixed content, while max is what an all-white test pattern pulls. Choosing Pixel Pitch by Viewing Distance

Pixel pitch is the centre-to-centre distance between adjacent LEDs, and it sets how close a viewer can stand before the image breaks into visible dots. The long-standing integrator rule of thumb is that the comfortable minimum viewing distance in metres roughly equals the pixel pitch in millimetres - so a 2.5 mm panel reads cleanly from about 2.5 m (8 ft) and beyond. Treat this as a planning heuristic rather than a manufacturer specification, and confirm against a physical sample for critical applications.

  • NX1.5 (1.5 mm) - closest viewing, for control rooms and small huddle spaces where operators sit within arm's reach of the wall.
  • NX1.8 (1.87 mm) - conference rooms and lobbies with viewers from roughly 2 m.
  • NX2.5 (2.5 mm) - the volume choice for corporate lobbies, boardrooms, studios and experience centres where the nearest viewer is about 2.5 m out. Best balance of resolution against cost per square metre.

A second check matters as much as distance: content resolution. There is no benefit in a canvas whose native resolution exceeds what your sources produce. If the wall is fed 1080p, an array delivering close to 1,920 x 1,080 is the efficient target; going finer adds cost without adding visible detail.

  • Receiving cards - each cabinet needs a receiving card to convert the incoming data signal into LED drive. These are normally factory-fitted, but confirm the count and firmware version matches the rest of your wall when mixing new cabinets into an existing installation.
  • LED processor / controller - a sending unit or video processor maps your video sources onto the pixel canvas and handles scaling, input switching and redundancy. Processor capacity is specified in pixels, so total wall resolution determines how many output ports you need.
  • Mounting structure - a wall-mount frame, floor-standing rig or hanging structure, plus the alignment hardware to hold cabinet-to-cabinet tolerances tight enough that seams stay invisible. This is where front-serviceable designs earn their keep: the 240 x 540 mm NX cabinets are front-maintainable, so the structure can sit tight against the wall without a rear service corridor.
  • Power distribution - circuits sized to the maximum load, with the panel count per circuit calculated from the 450 W/m2 figure rather than average draw.
  • Data and power cabling - cabinet-to-cabinet jumpers plus the runs back to the processor and distribution. Redundant data looping is worth specifying for mission-critical walls so a single cable fault does not black out a section.
  • Spare cabinets and modules - hold spares from the same production batch. LED binning varies between production runs, so a replacement module bought two years later may not colour-match, and calibration data is batch-specific.

Both are the same NX Series panel electronics in different cabinet widths. The 240 x 540 cabinet weighs 2.7 kg and is front-maintainable only; the wider 960 x 540 cabinet weighs about 10.4 kg and supports front or rear module access. Narrow cabinets give finer control over final wall width and are easier to handle solo; wider cabinets mean fewer seams and faster installation. Which pixel pitch should I choose?
Work from your closest viewer and your source resolution. As a rule of thumb, minimum comfortable viewing distance in metres approximates pixel pitch in millimetres, so NX2.5 suits nearest viewers from about 2.5 m. Go finer (NX1.5 or NX1.8) for control rooms and small meeting spaces; go coarser (NX3.75) for auditoria and large retail spaces.

Is the NX2.5 suitable for outdoor use?
No. It is rated IP40 front and IP21 rear with an operating range of -10 to +40 C, which makes it an indoor-only product. Outdoor installations need a weatherproof Absen series instead - contact us for options.
