Why buy a commercial display instead of a consumer TV?
Commercial displays are rated for long daily run times, carry commercial warranties, accept control from room systems over RS-232 or the network, and do not force consumer setup screens or ads. Consumer TV warranties are often void in commercial use.
How many hours a day can they run?
Many are rated for 16 hours a day and signage models for 24/7. Check the rating against how the display will actually be used.
What size display does a meeting room need?
Size the screen so the farthest viewer can read on-screen text. As a rough guide, the image height should be at least one sixth of the distance to the farthest seat. Rooms that outgrow a single 98-inch display often move to LED or projection.
What brightness do I need?
Typical offices are fine with 350 to 500 nits. Bright rooms and window-facing signage need 700 nits or more, and outdoor or window displays need far higher brightness.
What are hospitality TVs?
Hospitality TVs from LG and Samsung support guest-room features such as welcome screens, locked settings and integration with IPTV and property systems in hotels, hospitals and senior living.
Can these displays run signage without a separate player?
Many commercial displays include a built-in system-on-chip that runs signage content directly. Larger networks often still use dedicated players for management and reliability.
