SoundTube IPD-CM52s-BGM-II IP-Addressable Dante In-Ceiling Speaker — White
Overview
The SoundTube IPD-CM52s-BGM-II is a Dante®-enabled coaxial in-ceiling speaker engineered for commercial installations where plenum depth is limited and audio performance cannot be compromised. Featuring a shallow 3.5-inch backcan and BroadBeam Ring™ technology, this white-finish unit delivers background music-quality audio across a 100° dispersion pattern from a single Cat cable carrying audio, PoE power, and network control. It is part of SoundTube's STNet IP-addressable series and integrates into Dante networks alongside other Dante-compatible devices.
Description
At the heart of the IPD-CM52s-BGM-II is a 5.25-inch polypropylene-cone woofer paired with a 0.75-inch silk dome tweeter featuring BroadBeam Ring™ technology — a tuned coaxial configuration that maintains smooth off-axis response and mid-range clarity through the 5.0 kHz crossover point. The tuned port on the baffle extends bass response down to 65 Hz (±10 dB), making this an effective choice for background music in environments where full-range intelligibility is required without supplemental subwoofers.
The shallow 3.5-inch-deep backcan (9.67-inch diameter) fits into tight plenum cavities that would reject standard ceiling speakers. Installation uses SoundTube's SpeedWing™ constant-tension fixed-wing mounting system, which accommodates ceiling materials from 0.035 in to 1.6 in thick without additional hardware. The speaker ships with a color-coded tile bridge, UL-listed conduit clamp, and paint shield for clean, code-compliant installations. Power is delivered via PoE/PoE+ (up to 30 W standard PoE, or 40 W with STNet Switch II); PoE++ is not compatible.
The white steel grille has a standard flange, is friction-fit, paintable, and installs flush to the ceiling. Certifications include ETL-C/US, CE, RoHS, UL 2043, and UL 60065. Network configuration and zone management are handled entirely through software — no analog wiring or local controls are needed. For project pricing and design support, visit creationnetworks.net.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the minimum plenum depth required for this speaker?
- The backcan is 3.5 inches (88.9 mm) deep with a 9.67-inch diameter. This shallow profile is specifically engineered for plenum spaces that reject standard 5-inch-deep ceiling speaker backcans.
- How does BroadBeam Ring™ improve sound quality?
- BroadBeam Ring™ surrounds the silk dome tweeter with a shaped ring lens that disperses high-frequency energy more evenly across a wide cone — reducing the hot spot directly on-axis and providing smoother coverage at oblique listening angles typical in distributed ceiling audio systems.
- What mounting system does this speaker use?
- The SpeedWing™ constant-tension fixed-wing system uses spring-loaded wings that grip any ceiling material between 0.035 and 1.6 inches thick. A color-coded tile bridge is included for suspended T-bar ceiling grids.
- Does it require PoE, or can it use DC power?
- Both options are available. It runs on PoE/PoE+ from any 802.3at switch (up to 30 W) or from a 24 V DC barrel connector. The STNet Switch II provides up to 40 W per port. PoE++ is not compatible.
- Is the grille paintable to match the ceiling finish?
- Yes. The white steel grille is friction-fit and can be painted to match virtually any ceiling color — a significant advantage in projects where acoustic tile color varies or an invisible-from-floor look is required.
- What is the cutout size for installation?
- The required ceiling cutout diameter is 10.5 inches (266.7 mm). The visible speaker diameter after installation is 298.5 mm with an 8.6 mm profile height above the ceiling surface.
