Product Overview

The Sony VPL-FHZ80 is a 6,000-lumen WUXGA laser 3LCD installation projector for meeting rooms, classrooms, museums, and entertainment venues. It pairs a 20,000-hour laser light source with three 0.76" LCD panels and an optical compensator for crisp images at ∞:1 dynamic contrast, and adds Reality Creation processing, an exchangeable lens system, edge blending, automated filter cleaning, and auto calibration. This is the white, no-lens model.

Product Description

The VPL-FHZ80 uses a 3LCD system with three 0.76" panels at native WUXGA (1920 x 1200) resolution, outputting 6,000 lumens with an ∞:1 dynamic contrast ratio and stable, accurate color. A 1.39–2.23:1 throw ratio with 1.6x powered zoom and a generous lens shift range give installation flexibility, and the quick-release bayonet mount accepts a wide range of interchangeable lenses (sold separately). Sony's super-resolution Reality Creation enhances lower-resolution sources without adding noise, while Intelligent Setting presets tune brightness, cooling, and color for the room. The laser light source runs up to 20,000 hours with consistent brightness and no lamp replacement, and an automated filter-cleaning system clears dust every 100 hours; color can be auto-recalibrated to factory settings without external equipment. Inputs include HDBaseT, HDMI, DVI-D, VGA, and BNC, with analog audio input and output; control is via HDBaseT, RS-232, Crestron Connected, and Extron XTP. The slim, flat-top body with a terminal cover blends discreetly into ceiling-mounted installations.

The VPL-FHZ80's strengths are 3LCD color (no color-wheel rainbow effect), ∞:1 dynamic contrast, an interchangeable-lens system with lens shift, and automated filter cleaning and calibration. Where higher raw brightness or a sealed filter-free design is the priority, alternatives like the Epson Pro L730U may suit; confirm current competitor specifications before deciding.
