This shallow-depth enclosure is engineered for select Sonance Visual Performance and Visual Experience rectangle in-wall speakers, fitting tight wall cavities where standard back boxes will not. When installed with the appropriate Sonance flex bracket in a gypsum board wall assembly, it delivers a one-hour fire rating. Product Description

This fire-rated shallow backcan is a single-piece acoustic and safety enclosure for commercial and residential in-wall speaker projects that must meet fire-rated wall assembly requirements. The painted steel construction is lined with ceramic fiber insulation, providing both structural durability and the thermal barrier required for the one-hour fire rating. It carries ratings in accordance with ASTM E814-06, ASTM E119, UL 263, NFPA 251, and CN/ULC-S101 when installed as part of a qualifying gypsum board wall assembly with an appropriate Sonance flex bracket. The enclosure is compatible with Sonance Visual Performance models VP42, VP46, VP48, VP62, VP66, VP68, VP66 SUR/SST, and VP66 TL, plus Visual Experience models VX42, VX46, VX62, VX66, and VX66 SST. Integrated Snap2it wire clamps allow quick, tool-light cable termination and a secure hold on the speaker wire. The shallow profile suits applications where wall depth is limited but a fire-rated backcan is still required by code. This unit is supplied as a single backcan and is not compatible with large VP models.
