Product Overview
The Shure KSM32/CG is a cardioid studio condenser microphone built for accurate, natural reproduction in professional recording and live sound. This stage-model variant in charcoal gray pairs a precision-tuned cardioid pattern with transformerless Class A circuitry, making it a dependable large-diaphragm condenser for vocals, acoustic instruments, and broadcast capture. As a studio condenser microphone for commercial deployment, it delivers consistent off-axis rejection and high-SPL headroom.
Product Description
The KSM32/CG uses a precision-engineered 3/4-inch capsule with an embossed Mylar diaphragm to deliver smooth, balanced response and the low-frequency performance usually associated with larger 1-inch capsules. Class A, transformerless preamplifier circuitry removes crossover distortion for improved linearity across the full frequency range, while the precisely tuned cardioid pattern provides off-axis rejection up to 37 dB at 180 degrees so surrounding instruments and room reflections stay out of the mix. A switchable 15 dB attenuator extends headroom for extremely high sound pressure levels, and a switchable low-frequency filter helps control proximity effect and stage rumble. An integrated three-stage pop protection grille reduces breath noise and an internal shock mount limits handling noise, supporting deployment in broadcast studio, house of worship, and auditorium environments.
Key Features
- 3/4-Inch Embossed Diaphragm Capsule — The precision-engineered capsule delivers extended low-frequency performance and a natural, balanced response across the audio band.
- Transformerless Class A Circuitry — Class A, transformerless preamplifier design eliminates crossover distortion for improved linearity and clean reproduction.
- Precisely Tuned Cardioid Pattern — Off-axis rejection of up to 37 dB at 180 degrees keeps room reflections and adjacent sources out of the signal.
- Switchable 15 dB Attenuator — The pad extends maximum SPL handling for close placement on loud sources without overloading the capsule.
- Switchable Low-Frequency Filter — The low-cut filter controls proximity effect and reduces low-end rumble in live and installed settings.
- Three-Stage Pop Protection and Internal Shock Mount — Integrated pop grille reduces breath noise while the internal shock mount limits transmitted handling and stand noise.
Typical Applications
- Broadcast studio
- House of worship
- Auditorium
- Multi-purpose room

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the KSM32/CG need phantom power?
Yes. As a condenser microphone it requires 48V phantom power, supplied by most mixers, preamps, and audio interfaces.
What is the difference between the CG and SL models?
The CG is the charcoal-gray stage model. The SL is the champagne studio model and ships with the A32SM shock mount and an aluminum carrying case.
When should I engage the 15 dB pad?
Engage the attenuator for close placement on loud sources such as drums, brass, or guitar amplifiers to prevent capsule overload.
Is it suitable for installed AV and house of worship systems?
Yes. Its high off-axis rejection and switchable low-cut filter make it effective for podiums, lecterns, and stage use in installed systems.
What support is available?
The microphone carries Shure's manufacturer warranty. Creation Networks provides procurement and integration support for commercial AV projects.
