Product Overview

The Shure ADX2FD/K9HSN is a frequency-diverse digital handheld wireless microphone transmitter featuring the KSM9HS supercardioid/hypercardioid condenser capsule in a nickel finish, designed for broadcast production, theatrical performance, and commercial AV installations where tight polar control and a traditional silver microphone appearance are preferred. The KSM9HS switchable pattern provides maximum off-axis rejection for high-monitor-level live productions and broadcast studios, while Axient Digital frequency diversity and ShowLink remote control deliver the RF performance required in the most demanding commercial deployments. Compatible with all Axient Digital AD4D and AD4Q receivers.

Product Description

The ADX2FD/K9HSN offers the same high-performance Axient Digital frequency-diverse platform as the K9HSB variant in a nickel finish, pairing the KSM9HS condenser capsule with automatic dual-frequency interference avoidance technology. The switchable supercardioid and hypercardioid polar patterns allow engineers to adapt off-axis rejection to the specific production environment, whether a broadcast studio with close-proximity monitor speakers or a large auditorium with high ambient SPL. ShowLink technology enables remote transmitter management from Wireless Workbench 6 or ShurePlus Channels without physical access to the handheld, and HD mode maximizes channel density in spectrum-constrained commercial deployments. Available in G57 band (470–616 MHz), nickel finish. Integrates with the Shure AD4DNP Two-Channel Receiver or Shure AD4QUS Four-Channel Receiver.

Key Features

  • Frequency-Diverse Transmission — Transmits on two independent RF frequencies simultaneously for automatic interference avoidance in congested RF environments.
  • KSM9HS Supercardioid/Hypercardioid Condenser Capsule — Switchable polar patterns for maximum off-axis rejection in broadcast, theatrical, and high-monitor-level live commercial productions.
  • ShowLink Remote Control — Remote frequency, gain, and status management via Wireless Workbench 6 or ShurePlus Channels iOS app.
  • Nickel Finish — Traditional silver/nickel appearance suited for broadcast facilities and theatrical productions.
  • Standard and High Density Modes — HD mode supports high simultaneous channel counts in spectrum-limited commercial deployments.
  • Axient Digital Compatibility — Works with all Axient Digital AD4D and AD4Q receivers.

Typical Applications

  • Broadcast studio
  • Auditorium
  • House of worship
  • Government space
  • All-hands room

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the ADX2FD/K9HSN and ADX2FD/K9HSB?
Both transmitters use the same KSM9HS capsule and Axient Digital frequency-diverse RF platform. The only difference is finish: K9HSN is nickel/silver, K9HSB is black. The choice is typically based on visual preference or broadcast/theatrical convention.

Is this compatible with existing Axient Digital receivers?
Yes. It works with all Axient Digital AD4D and AD4Q receivers in Standard and High Density modes.

Why choose a supercardioid or hypercardioid pattern over a standard cardioid for commercial AV?
Tighter polar patterns (supercardioid/hypercardioid) provide greater rejection of off-axis sound sources, including stage monitors and ambient room noise. This is especially valuable in large auditoriums, broadcast studios, and house of worship environments where feedback control and audio isolation are priorities.
