The Shure A15PRS is an in-line switchable phase reverser that selects normal or reversed polarity on a balanced line without any rewiring or equipment modification. It reverses the polarity of pins 2 and 3 at the flip of a switch, giving AV integrators a fast way to correct polarity conflicts between microphones, mixers, and other balanced sources. This is a useful troubleshooting and setup tool wherever multiple microphones combine and out-of-polarity signals cause cancellation and thin, hollow sound.

Product Description

Polarity problems show up when one microphone or source in a system is wired or positioned opposite to the others, causing partial cancellation when signals sum at the mixer. Rather than re-pinning cables or opening equipment, a technician inserts the A15PRS in the balanced XLR run and switches polarity to match the rest of the system. Because the change is instant and reversible, it is well suited to live verification during commissioning of conference rooms, houses of worship, and broadcast studios, and to permanent installation where a known polarity inversion must be corrected. The passive design swaps pins 2 and 3 internally, needs no power, and adds no active circuitry to the signal path.
