Product Overview
The Midas DM16 analog mixer is a 16-input analog mixing console designed for both live sound reinforcement and studio recording. It features 12 MIDAS microphone preamplifiers, a 3-band channel EQ with sweepable mid frequency based on the British console circuitry of the 1960s and 70s, and 2 switchable pre/post-fader aux sends on every channel. The DM16 delivers a straightforward analog signal path with no digital setup complexity, making it a dependable choice for venues and studios that need consistent, repeatable performance without a learning curve. It handles small band reinforcement, worship team audio, keyboard and drum sub-mixing, and utility mixing roles in larger productions.
Product Description

The Midas DM16 analog mixer places 12 mono channels and 2 stereo channels on a compact desktop surface, each mono channel providing a balanced XLR mic input, a balanced 1/4-inch TRS line input, and a 1/4-inch TRS insert point for outboard processing. The mic gain range spans 10 to 60 dB, and each channel carries the full 3-band EQ suite — shelving high at 12 kHz, shelving low at 80 Hz, and a sweepable mid-band covering 150 Hz to 3.5 kHz with up to 15 dB of boost or cut at each band. This EQ character, derived from classic British console design, applies musically even when driven hard, making it practical for both corrective and creative use.
The 2 stereo line channels (13/14 and 15/16) accept balanced TRS inputs with a stereo gain control and a balance control on each pair, accommodating keyboards, stereo returns from effects processors, or mono sources routed to the stereo field. Aux sends 1 and 2 on each channel are independently switchable pre or post-fader, giving the operator flexibility to use them as monitor sends, effects sends, or a combination of both. Two balanced TRS aux outputs and two balanced TRS monitor outputs are provided at the master section, along with balanced XLR main outputs and 1/4-inch TRS insert jacks on the main bus. A 2-track RCA I/O allows connection of a playback source or a recording device.
The DM16 operates on an internal switch-mode power supply accepting 100–240VAC, making it suitable for international use without a transformer. There is no digital connectivity, app control, or remote gain adjustment — all control is direct and immediate at the panel. This makes the DM16 well suited for operators who prefer the tactile clarity of analog mixing and for installations where digital console setup time or network dependencies are undesirable. For AV integrators, the DM16 can serve as a utility sub-mixer feeding a digital console’s line inputs, keeping the main console’s preamps free for priority sources.
Key Features
- 12 MIDAS Microphone Preamplifiers — Award-winning analog preamp design with +48V phantom power and 10–60 dB mic gain range, delivering the transparent, low-noise Midas sound in a compact format.
- 16 Total Inputs — 12 mono channels (XLR mic + 1/4-inch TRS line + insert) and 2 stereo line channels (1/4-inch TRS) for a complete small-format input list.
- 3-Band EQ with Sweepable Mid — British-voiced shelving high (12 kHz) and low (80 Hz) plus a peak mid sweepable from 150 Hz to 3.5 kHz; up to 15 dB boost/cut per band.
- 2 Switchable Aux Sends — Pre/post-fader switchable on every channel; suitable for independent monitor mixes, effects sends, or a combination of both.
- Channel Insert Points — 1/4-inch TRS insert on each mono channel allows external dynamics or EQ processing to be patched inline without breaking the signal path.
- Balanced XLR Main Outputs — Two XLR main outputs with 60 mm master faders and 1/4-inch TRS main bus inserts for connection to amplifiers or additional processing.
- 2-Track RCA I/O — Unbalanced RCA inputs for playback routing to the main mix or monitors; RCA outputs for stereo recording to an external device.
- Internal Switch-Mode Power Supply — Accepts 100–240VAC at 50/60 Hz via standard IEC connector; no external power brick or transformer required.
- Compact Desktop Form Factor — 95 mm H x 438 mm W x 370 mm D, 5 kg; fits on a stage table, studio desk, or equipment shelf without occupying rack space.
Typical Applications
- House of Worship — Used as a utility or monitor mix console alongside a primary digital FOH system, or as the main mixer in smaller sanctuaries and chapel spaces.
- Small Live Venues — Provides reliable analog mixing for club, bar, and community hall stages where a digital console is not required.
- Rehearsal Rooms — Handles full band rehearsal input counts with enough aux sends for a monitor mix and an effects return.
- Recording Studio Utility Mixing — Functions as a sub-mixer for keyboards, drum machines, or outboard gear feeding a DAW interface or patchbay.
- Multi-Purpose Rooms — Suits venues that need a simple, operator-friendly analog console for events ranging from meetings to live performances.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does the DM16 have any digital connectivity or remote control?
No. The DM16 is a fully analog console with no digital audio connectivity, network interface, or remote control capability. All gain, EQ, and routing adjustments are made directly at the panel. This makes it straightforward to operate and eliminates the setup time associated with digital systems.
Q: What outputs does the DM16 include?
The DM16 provides 2 balanced XLR main outputs, 2 balanced 1/4-inch TRS aux outputs, 2 balanced 1/4-inch TRS monitor outputs, 1/4-inch TRS insert jacks on the main bus, 2 unbalanced RCA outputs for 2-track recording, and a stereo 1/4-inch TRS headphone output. This output set covers most live sound and studio utility mixing scenarios without additional patching.
Q: Is the DM16 suitable for both live sound and studio recording?
Yes. The DM16 is designed for both live performance and studio use. In a live setting it functions as a front-of-house or monitor mixer for small to mid-size productions. In a studio setting it works as a sub-mixer or summing tool, with the 2-track RCA outputs providing a direct feed to a recorder or interface. The channel insert points allow inline dynamics or EQ processing in both contexts.
Q: Does the DM16 have built-in effects?
No. The DM16 does not include any onboard effects processing. Effects can be added externally using the aux send/return path: send a channel signal out via an aux output to an external effects unit, and return the processed signal to a stereo line channel or the 2-track RCA input.
