Product Overview
The Lightware HDMI-TPX-TX106 is an HDMI 2.0 HDBaseT transmitter that extends HDMI 2.0 signals, USB, RS-232, and IR up to 100 meters over a single Cat6A or Cat7 cable. Designed as a non-switchable (AVX) extender, it is the transmit-side unit for point-to-point HDBaseT links between a source location and a remote display or AV endpoint. Part of the Lightware VINX TPX system, it pairs with the HDMI-TPX-RX106 receiver. Available from Creation Networks.
Product Description

HDBaseT is the industry standard for extending HDMI over structured Cat cable, and the HDMI-TPX-TX106 implements it for HDMI 2.0 sources. At the source location, this transmitter unit accepts an HDMI 2.0 input, encodes it for HDBaseT transmission, and sends it over a single Cat6A or Cat7 cable to the HDMI-TPX-RX106 receiver at the display. USB HID (keyboard and mouse), RS-232, and IR signals travel on the same cable in both directions — the transmitter handles both outbound video and inbound control signals. The non-switchable (AVX) designation means this is a dedicated point-to-point extender without built-in matrix switching, appropriate for fixed single-source to single-display runs in conference rooms, classrooms, and distributed display systems. Power over HDBaseT (PoH) is supported, allowing the transmitter to power the receiver over the Cat cable where required.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What receiver does the HDMI-TPX-TX106 pair with?
- The HDMI-TPX-TX106 pairs with the Lightware HDMI-TPX-RX106 receiver (91580001), sold separately. Both units must be used together for a complete HDBaseT extension link.
- What cable is required between the transmitter and receiver?
- Cat6A or Cat7 is recommended for reliable 4K and long-distance operation. Cat6 may work at shorter distances and lower resolutions but is not recommended for 4K@60Hz at full extension distance. Use a shielded cable (STP/FTP) in electrically noisy environments.
- Can the transmitter power the receiver, or does the receiver need its own power supply?
- Yes. The transmitter supports Power over HDBaseT (PoH) and can power the HDMI-TPX-RX106 receiver over the Cat cable, eliminating the need for a separate power supply at the receiver end. The transmitter itself can be PoE-powered from a PoE switch.
- Does the extender support 4K@60Hz at full 100-meter distance?
- At 4K@60Hz (4:2:0), the maximum recommended extension distance is shorter than 100 meters — typically up to 70 meters depending on cable quality. 100-meter extension applies to 1080p signals. Contact Creation Networks for distance planning specific to your resolution and cable run.
- Is this extender compatible with a Lightware matrix switcher?
- The HDMI-TPX-TX106 is designated as AVX (non-switchable), meaning it is designed for fixed point-to-point extension rather than connection to a matrix switcher. For matrix-connected HDBaseT extension, consult Creation Networks for the appropriate Lightware matrix-compatible transmitter.
- Does it support HDCP 2.2 for 4K protected content?
- Yes. The HDMI-TPX-TX106 is HDCP 2.2 compliant and will pass 4K protected content from supported sources to HDCP 2.2-compliant displays.
