The Atlas Sound SHS-EXT is a sound chamber extension accessory designed for use with the AtlasIED SHS-6T2 Strategically Hidden Speaker in thicker ceiling applications where the standard sound chamber depth is insufficient to reach the ceiling surface. Each SHS-EXT adds 0.5 inches (13mm) of extension to the sound chamber, allowing the diffuser to properly attach and maintain correct acoustic coverage. The SHS-EXT is finished in white to match the SHS series speaker components.

Product Description

The SHS-EXT solves a common installation challenge in commercial environments where ceiling thickness exceeds the standard depth accommodated by the SHS-6T2 sound chamber. Without an extension, installers may find that the SHS diffuser cannot attach properly in thicker ceiling constructions such as thick drywall, dense acoustic tile, or layered ceiling assemblies. The SHS-EXT attaches directly to the SHS sound chamber and creates an additional 0.5-inch extension, allowing the selected SHS diffuser to connect at the correct depth for proper acoustic performance. AtlasIED recommends using no more than two SHS-EXT units per SHS-6T2 speaker to preserve the sound coverage pattern and acoustic quality intended by the system design. The extension is compatible with the SHS-6T2, a 32-watt 70/100V speaker assembly designed for concealed in-ceiling installation where visible speaker grilles are not acceptable, such as high-end hospitality, corporate headquarters, and upscale retail environments.
