The DD87W-HC coaxial design combines a full-size 8-inch (203mm) low-frequency cone with a 3-inch (76mm) high-frequency tweeter on a common axis, connected through a built-in crossover network. This coaxial arrangement produces broad, uniform dispersion — 105 degrees at the 2kHz octave band — that distributes audio evenly across a coverage area without requiring precise aiming adjustments during installation. The 8-inch woofer uses a 10-ounce (260g) ceramic magnet and the tweeter uses a 2.35-ounce (67g) ceramic magnet. Average sensitivity is 96dB at 1W/1m. The included transformer is an 8-watt 70.7V unit with a maximum insertion loss of 0.6dB, constructed with audio-grade laminations and a frequency response of +1dB from 50Hz to 15kHz. Selectable primary taps at 1, 2, 4, and 8 watts enable zone-level output control. The factory-installed 62-8 style CRS baffle uses concealed mounting studs and includes screw mount hardware; the white powder coat epoxy finish is complemented by the Hyfidrophobic treatment, which resists moisture penetration and allows the baffle to maintain its appearance and integrity in environments with periodic condensation or splash exposure.
