The Atlas Sound BMT95-8 is a blind-mount speaker enclosure engineered for retrofit ceiling installations where above-ceiling access is not available. The patented support system allows secure mounting without access above the ceiling, making it a practical solution for upgrading audio in existing commercial spaces. It accommodates a wide range of Atlas IED 8-inch speaker baffles and is constructed of cold-rolled steel with integrated sound damping material.
Product Description
The BMT95-8 (U.S. Patent #4,673,149) solves one of the most common retrofit challenges in commercial AV: installing a speaker enclosure in a finished ceiling without above-ceiling access. The enclosure includes a proprietary support system with mounting ears that telescope outward from inside the enclosure and adjust vertically to grip ceilings ranging from 1/2" (13mm) to 1 3/8" (35mm) thick. All hardware required for installation is included in the package. The enclosure body is built from CRS (cold-rolled steel) construction and is equipped with torsion-spring receptacles on the front flange, enabling quick attachment of compatible torsion-spring grilles. J-nuts are provided on the enclosure return for surface-mounting grille options. Three 1/2" (13mm) conduit knockouts on the backplate provide cable access from multiple directions. Sound damping material lines the interior to reduce metallic resonance that would otherwise color the acoustic output. The 4.5" deep, 10.125" diameter enclosure is compatible with a broad list of Atlas IED 8-inch baffles, making it a versatile choice across distributed audio projects in offices, retail, and hospitality environments. TAA and BAA compliance is documented for public sector projects.
