Product Overview

The AtlasIED 316-15 is a 16RU wall-mount rack cabinet built for network gear and AV equipment in commercial installations where floor space is at a premium. Part of the welded 300 Series, it pairs a 15-inch-deep center section with adjustable 10-32 rack rails and a wide 19-inch opening for straightforward equipment mounting. The three-section design — solid-steel front door, center equipment section, and hinged rear door — gives integrators front and rear access for cabling and service. It is BAA and TAA compliant, making it suitable for government AV procurement.

Product Description

AtlasIED 316-15 16RU wall-mount equipment rack cabinet

The 316-15 wall cabinet is fabricated from 16-gauge cold-rolled steel in three sections: a 2-inch-deep solid-steel front door, a 15-inch-deep center section with adjustable mounting rails, and a 4-1/2-inch-deep rear door, all finished in #962 black epoxy. Adjustable front rack rails are tapped 10-32 on standard EIA 1/2-inch spacing, and as a 16RU model it includes center-section mounting rail supports for added rigidity under load. This combination makes it a dependable equipment rack for AV installation in classrooms, IDF closets, and equipment walls where a floor-standing rack will not fit.

Cable management is engineered in: internal open raceways provide cable pathways, and corner brace supports on the hinge side feature 1-1/4-inch wire access holes for harnessing excess cable. Twenty conduit knockouts on the rear section — arrays of 1-inch standard and 1/2"/3/4" concentric knockouts at the top and bottom of the back panel and flanges — simplify conduit connection during structured cabling and AV system integration. The rear panel includes 1/4-inch boss detents on 12-inch centers (four on this 16RU model) so contractors can field-install a plywood, aluminum, or steel sub-plate for mounting accessories inside the cabinet.

Structural integrity sets the 300 Series apart from lighter wall racks. One-piece front and rear sections are strengthened with frame flanges on the bottom, top, and sides; center sections are plug-welded; and electric-welded seams and miters bond the whole cabinet. An 11-gauge center section guide plate distributes cabinet and equipment weight to the rear section, reducing sag and guiding alignment pins home so a fully loaded center section closes properly. Perforated vents on both sides of the center section provide passive ventilation for rack-mounted electronics in this secure network equipment cabinet.

Key Features

  • 16RU Wall-Mount Capacity — Sixteen rack units of 19-inch EIA mounting space keep network and AV gear off the floor and out of the way.
  • 15-Inch Deep Center Section — Accommodates deeper switches, amplifiers, and DSPs than shallow wall racks while maintaining a wall-friendly footprint.
  • Adjustable 10-32 Rack Rails — Front rails adjust in depth and follow standard EIA 1/2-inch spacing, with center-section rail supports included.
  • Three-Section Swing Design — Solid front door, equipment center section, and hinged rear door provide full front and rear service access.
  • 20 Conduit Knockouts — 1-inch and 1/2"/3/4" concentric knockout arrays on the rear panel and flanges streamline conduit and low-voltage rough-in.
  • Integrated Wire Management — Internal open raceways and 1-1/4-inch wire access holes organize and harness excess cabling.
  • Welded Steel Construction — 16-gauge cold-rolled steel with electric-welded seams, frame flanges, and corner braces supports heavy equipment loads.
  • Anti-Sag Guide Plate — An 11-gauge guide plate transfers equipment weight to the rear section so a loaded cabinet opens and closes correctly.
  • Field-Customizable Rear Panel — Boss detents accept an installer-supplied plywood, aluminum, or steel sub-plate for mounting accessories.
  • BAA and TAA Compliant — Meets Buy American Act and Trade Agreements Act requirements for federal and government projects.

Typical Applications

  • Government spaces requiring TAA-compliant equipment enclosures
  • Conference room and boardroom AV head-end equipment in adjacent closets
  • Training rooms and multi-purpose rooms with wall-mounted network gear
  • House of worship amplifier and DSP racks in utility spaces
  • Auditorium and commercial meeting space equipment walls

Frequently Asked Questions

What equipment fits in the 316-15?
Any standard 19-inch EIA rack equipment up to 16RU total, with a 15-inch-deep center section that handles most network switches, amplifiers, DSPs, and patch panels used in commercial AV installation.

Can the rack rails be repositioned?
Yes. The front rack rails are adjustable in depth and tapped 10-32 on standard EIA 1/2-inch spacing, and the 16RU model includes center-section mounting rail supports.

How does cabling enter the cabinet?
Twenty conduit knockouts on the rear section and flanges accept 1/2", 3/4", and 1" conduit, and internal raceways plus wire access holes route and harness cable inside.

Is it suitable for government projects?
Yes. The 316-15 is BAA and TAA compliant, which satisfies sourcing requirements for most federal, state, and municipal procurement.

How is ventilation handled?
Perforated vents on both sides of the center section provide passive convection cooling for rack-mounted electronics. Plan equipment loads accordingly or add forced ventilation for high-heat gear.

Can I mount accessories inside the cabinet?
Yes. Boss detents on the rear panel let contractors install a custom plywood, aluminum, or steel sub-plate for mounting power strips, surge protection, or other accessories.

What warranty applies?
AtlasIED warrants the 316-15 for 60 months from the date of purchase, and Creation Networks assists with product selection and post-sale support.
