Allen & Heath dLive DM64 – 64-Input Digital MixRack for dLive Systems

The Allen & Heath dLive DM64 (AH-DLIVE-DM64) is the largest analog I/O MixRack in the dLive S Class range, providing 64 mic/line inputs and 32 line outputs in a rack-mount chassis. It houses the XCVI processing core — the audio engine shared across all dLive S Class products — and serves as the heart of any dLive system, handling all DSP, routing, and I/O while connected to a dLive surface or controlled directly via laptop, iPad, or TCP/IP remote. The DM64 is suited to large live sound, broadcast production, and complex fixed installation environments where a full 64-channel local analog front end is required.

Product Description

The DM64 is built around the XCVI Core, which uses next-generation FPGA technology with 36 parallel virtual processing cores to deliver 160x64 channels of processing at 96 kHz. Six parallel mixing engines calculate over 10,000 cross points per sample, and the FPGA router supports 3,000x3,000 audio paths. This translates to 128 full-processing input channels, 64 mix outputs, a configurable 64-bus architecture (groups, FX, aux, matrix, and mains in LR, LCR, or 5.1 modes), and an ultra-low latency of under 0.6 ms.

DEEP processing is embedded directly within input and mix channels, providing access to graphic EQs and compressor emulations without consuming FX slots. The DM64 includes 16 RackExtra FX slots with dedicated stereo returns, each drawing on Allen & Heath's library of reverb, delay, and modulator algorithms. The built-in signal generator and RTA support system alignment without external test equipment.

Three rear-panel I/O option slots accept 128-channel networking cards at 96 kHz, supporting Dante, MADI, gigaACE, and other protocols. A dedicated ME-1 port provides a 48 kHz monitor mix feed independent of the main system. Dual redundant DX expander links allow additional DX32 and DX168 expanders to increase analog I/O beyond the built-in count. The dual hot-swappable PSU design is consistent across the entire dLive range, using the same module for simplified spares inventory.

Key Features

  • 64 Mic/Line Inputs, 32 Line Outputs — The largest analog I/O count in the dLive S Class MixRack range.
  • XCVI FPGA Core — 160x64 at 96 kHz — 36 parallel virtual cores, 25 billion operations per second, and a 96-bit accumulator for virtually infinite mix headroom.
  • 128 Full-Processing Input Channels — All inputs carry complete EQ, dynamics, and processing at 96 kHz sample rate.
  • Configurable 64-Bus Architecture — Groups, FX sends, aux, matrix, and mains (LR, LCR, up to 5.1) all configurable to application.
  • DEEP Onboard Processing — Graphic EQs and compressor emulations inserted directly on channels without using FX slots or adding latency.
  • 16 RackExtra FX Slots — Dedicated stereo returns for reverb, delay, and modulation algorithms.
  • Three 128-Channel I/O Option Slots — Supports Dante, MADI, gigaACE, and other networking cards at 96 kHz.
  • Dual Redundant DX Expander Links — Connects to DX32 and DX168 I/O expanders for additional local analog I/O.
  • Dedicated ME-1 Port — Independent 48 kHz personal monitoring feed for Allen & Heath ME-1 and ME-500 systems.
  • Ultra-Low Latency — <0.6 ms — XLR input to XLR output, input to mix processing included.
  • Hot-Swappable Dual PSU — Same PSU module used across the dLive range for minimum spares complexity.
  • Built-In Signal Generator and RTA — System alignment tools integrated into the MixRack without external test gear.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which dLive surfaces work with the DM64 MixRack?
The DM64 is compatible with all dLive S Class surfaces (S3000, S5000, S7000) and C Class surfaces (C1500, C2500, C3500, CTi1500), connected via CAT5e GigaACE link. Multiple surfaces can connect simultaneously.
Can the DM64 be used without a physical surface?
Yes. The DM64 can be controlled entirely via Allen & Heath Director software on a laptop, via iPad Mix apps, or by third-party controllers over TCP/IP — no physical surface is required.
Can the DM64 handle more than 64 analog inputs?
Yes. Additional analog I/O can be added via DX32 or DX168 expanders connected through the two redundant DX expander links. Digital I/O can also be patched to increase the channel count up to 128 full-processing inputs.
What audio networking protocols does the DM64 support?
The three I/O option slots accept Dante, MADI, gigaACE, and other Allen & Heath option cards, each providing up to 128 channels at 96 kHz. Dante requires the separately purchased M-DL-DANTE card.
Is the DM64 rack-mountable?
Yes. The DM64 is 19-inch rack-mount with reversible rack ears. It occupies approximately 10U of rack space.
What is the warranty on Allen & Heath dLive MixRacks?
Allen & Heath products include a manufacturer warranty. Contact Creation Networks for current warranty terms and professional support options.
Does the DM64 include onboard FX processing?
Yes. 16 RackExtra FX slots are included with dedicated stereo returns, providing reverb, delay, and modulation processing without external gear. DEEP compressor and EQ emulations are also available on every channel.
