Wired or wireless

Wired Confidea units suit permanent chambers where seating does not change — cabling is done once and the units are always powered and always available. Wireless suits rooms that reconfigure, heritage buildings where cabling is restricted, and any space where the furniture moves.

Wireless is not simply the easier option. Access point coverage has to be planned like any RF deployment: unit count per access point, and channel coordination against the building's existing wireless. Battery management becomes an operational task too — a chamber that sits all day needs a charging plan.

D-Cerno against Confidea

D-Cerno is the compact system, suited to boardrooms and smaller committee rooms where the requirement is clear audio and orderly turn-taking. Confidea scales further and supports the voting, interpretation and identification features a formal chamber needs. Those features are licensed separately.

Start with seat count and whether every seat needs a microphone or units are shared. Then decide what the proceedings require beyond speaking — recorded votes, delegate identification, multilingual output — because those determine the licence set and sometimes the system choice.
