Product Overview
The SurgeX SX-AX15E Axess Elite is a 1RU rack-mount IP power management system built for commercial AV environments operating on 15-amp branch circuits. This IP-connected surge eliminator and power conditioner provides the same Advanced Series Mode® protection and web-based outlet control as the 20-amp SX-AX20E, sized specifically for conference rooms, huddle rooms, and commercial meeting spaces where a 15-amp dedicated circuit is standard. With eight individually controllable outlets, real-time energy monitoring, and integration support for Crestron and AMX, the SX-AX15E gives AV integrators complete remote power management from a single rack unit. It is an ideal power conditioning solution for any AV system integration requiring reliable surge elimination, EMI/RFI filtering, and IP-based remote reboot capabilities.
Product Description
The SX-AX15E Axess Elite delivers full IP power management in a 1RU form factor, providing eight switched outlets — all individually sequenceable and controllable via a web-based GUI, SNMP, or compatible control systems. Its Advanced Series Mode® surge elimination technology achieves 0V let-through on a 6000V surge input, a standard that conventional MOV-based suppressors cannot achieve, and does so without generating ground contamination or common-mode noise that can degrade connected audio and video equipment.
The 15-amp input configuration (NEMA 5-15P plug) makes the SX-AX15E the correct choice for standard commercial branch circuits found in conference rooms and training rooms, while still providing the same enterprise-grade power management features as higher-amperage models. SurgeX ICE® Inrush Current Elimination on receptacles 1 and 2 prevents the high inrush draw from projectors, amplifiers, and displays from disrupting other devices on the circuit during power-up sequences.
Real-time monitoring of rack temperature, current draw, and input voltage is displayed through the onboard web interface, and historical log data supports energy auditing and proactive maintenance. The AutoPing feature can automatically reboot unresponsive networked devices on a scheduled interval, reducing costly on-site service dispatches. The included AE software enables centralized management of multiple Axess Elite units across a facility, and downstream SurgeX expansion units can be controlled directly from the SX-AX15E master.
Key Features
- Advanced Series Mode® Surge Elimination — Achieves 0V let-through on a 6000V surge with non-sacrificial components that do not degrade after surge events.
- IP-Addressable Outlet Control — Eight individually switched outlets controllable via web GUI, SNMP, or third-party control systems including Crestron and AMX.
- SurgeX ICE® Inrush Current Elimination — Protects high-draw devices on receptacles 1 and 2 from inrush current spikes during power-up.
- Impedance Tolerant EMI/RFI Filtering — Normal-mode attenuation of 40 dB at 100 kHz and 50 dB at 300 kHz and above for clean power delivery to sensitive AV equipment.
- COUVS® Over/Under Voltage Shutdown — Automatically disconnects all loads when input voltage falls outside safe operating limits, preventing equipment damage.
- Real-Time Energy Monitoring — Tracks current draw, input voltage, rack temperature, and energy consumption with historical logging for auditing.
- AutoPing Automatic Reboot — Pings networked devices on a schedule and automatically power-cycles unresponsive equipment, reducing service calls.
- 15-Amp Input Configuration — NEMA 5-15P input plug designed for standard 15-amp commercial branch circuits common in conference rooms and meeting spaces.
- AE Software Included — Centralized facility-wide power management software for monitoring and controlling multiple Axess Elite units.
- Expansion Unit Support — Master unit controls connected SurgeX expansion units for scalable power management in larger AV rack systems.
- Magnetic Shielding Steel Enclosure — 1RU steel chassis provides structural durability and additional EMI shielding in commercial AV rack installations.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between the SX-AX15E and the SX-AX20E?
- The primary difference is amperage: the SX-AX15E is rated for 15-amp circuits with a NEMA 5-15P input plug, while the SX-AX20E supports 20-amp circuits with a NEMA 5-20P plug. Both share the same Advanced Series Mode® protection, IP management features, and AE software. Choose the SX-AX15E when your equipment room or conference room has a standard 15-amp branch circuit.
- Can the SX-AX15E be controlled via Crestron or AMX?
- Yes. The SX-AX15E supports integration with Crestron, AMX, and other major control systems via SNMP and the SDxP API. The included AE software provides an additional management layer for facilities with multiple units.
- Does the SX-AX15E protect against surges without degrading over time?
- Yes. SurgeX Advanced Series Mode® technology uses non-sacrificial components that absorb and redirect surge energy without wearing out. Unlike MOV-based suppressors that degrade with each surge event, the SX-AX15E maintains its protection level throughout the product lifecycle.
- How many outlets does the SX-AX15E provide, and can they be individually controlled?
- The SX-AX15E provides eight NEMA 5-15R outlets. Each outlet can be individually switched, power-sequenced, and scheduled through the web GUI or integrated control system.
- What is the AutoPing feature and how does it work?
- AutoPing is an automated device health check that sends periodic network pings to connected devices. If a device fails to respond, the SX-AX15E can automatically power-cycle the affected outlet, rebooting the device without requiring a technician to visit the site.
- Is the SX-AX15E suitable for a standard conference room installation?
- Yes. The 15-amp input configuration is matched to the standard 15-amp branch circuits typically found in commercial conference rooms and meeting spaces. The 1RU form factor fits standard 19-inch AV equipment racks used in typical conference room installations.
