Product Description

In serial PTZ camera control systems, a joystick or PC serial adapter connects via a DB9 extender cable to the first camera in the chain. From that camera's 8-pin mini-DIN output port, the VISCA-25 cascade cable continues the control signal to the next camera, and so on through the entire multi-camera system. This approach eliminates the need to run a separate control cable from the controller to every camera — instead, each camera passes the signal forward through the cascade.

The VISCA-25 uses a plenum (CMP) rating, qualifying it for routing through ceiling plenums and air-handling spaces in commercial buildings without the added cost and labor of separate conduit in most jurisdictions. PTZOptics specifies these cables for use with their serial PTZ cameras, and they are compatible with the 8-pin mini-DIN cascade port found on most PTZOptics SDI and HDMI models.
