Product Overview
The trailing equals sign is the point of this SKU: CS-BOARD85S-NR-K7= is Cisco's spare or service unit designation, ordered to replace a failed board in an existing deployment rather than to build a new room. The distributor lists it as the Cisco Webex Board 85S, Non Radio, Non Encryption, Spare. It is the only 85-inch board Cisco built — there was no first-generation 85-inch panel — and Cisco sizes it for the largest collaboration spaces, including halls, training spaces and classrooms. Cisco placed the 85S end-of-sale on May 10, 2022 with a last date of support of May 31, 2027, and this part number appears on Cisco's own list of affected 85S SKUs.
Product Description
Sparing strategy for this product deserves more thought than for a 55-inch board, because Cisco's announced migration for the 85S is the Board Pro 75 — a smaller panel. There is no like-for-like 85-inch replacement in the Board family, so a site that has designed a hall or a lecture space around an 85-inch image cannot simply order the successor and keep the same sightlines. Holding a service unit is, for those rooms, the only way to preserve the original design through to the 2027 support date.
Physically this is a rigging job rather than an install. The board alone is 100 kg [220 lb] at 1221 x 1966 x 76 mm, and packaged weights run from 199 kg with the wall mount kit to 213 kg with the wall stand and 233 kg with the floor stand. Cisco publishes CS-BRD85-FRM=, a dedicated transport frame for the 85-inch board, precisely because moving one through a finished building is the hard part — and Cisco states that frame has no replacement product. Order the frame with the board if the old panel has to come out the way the new one goes in.
Electrically the board takes an autosensing 100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz feed drawing 352 W in use and 41 W standby at up to 4.6 A, plus one Ethernet (RJ-45) 100/1000 Mbps drop; it is not PoE-powered. A 3.5 mm mini-jack line output is available to feed an existing room reinforcement system, which most halls of this size already have. Creation Networks lists this unit under interactive displays, the spaces it serves under large room solutions, and mounting hardware under display mounts.
Key Features
- Spare service unit designation — The equals-sign part number is Cisco's service form, intended as a replacement for an existing deployment rather than as a new-room purchase.
- Non-radio configuration — The distributor lists this unit as Non Radio, Non Encryption; the 802.11 radios are not fitted, which suits sites where wireless emitters are prohibited.
- The only 85-inch Board Cisco built — No first-generation 85-inch board exists, so there is no generational ambiguity when matching a service unit to an installed panel.
- No like-for-like successor — Cisco migrates the 85S to the Board Pro 75, a smaller panel, so a spare is the only way to preserve an 85-inch room design through to 2027.
- Published rigging weights — 100 kg for the board and 199 to 233 kg packaged depending on mount give a lifting contractor firm figures before the visit.
- Dedicated transport frame — CS-BRD85-FRM= is Cisco's transport frame for moving an 85-inch board through a finished building, and Cisco states it has no replacement.
- Line output for house audio — The 3.5 mm mini-jack output feeds an existing reinforcement or assistive listening system, which a hall of this size normally has.
Typical Applications
- Auditorium — a service replacement that preserves an 85-inch image where the successor panel is smaller.
- Training room — restores a large teaching display without redesigning sightlines.
- House of worship — keeps a large-format installation running in a space where re-rigging is disruptive.
- All-hands room — a spare unit for the largest collaboration spaces Cisco targets with this size.
