Product Overview

The RF Venue BPF470T530 is a hand-tuned passive band-pass filter for wireless microphone receive systems operating in the 470–530 MHz UHF band. It installs inline on the coaxial antenna feed to block out-of-band RF signals that can saturate receiver front ends and cause intermodulation distortion, desensitization, and performance degradation. Compatible with Shure G50 and G1 band systems and Audio-Technica DE2 band systems, this filter requires no external power and has a minimal 3" x 1.75" footprint.

Product Description

Modern RF environments in commercial venues, urban settings, and arenas are congested with broadcast television signals, cellular transmissions, and other high-power RF sources operating outside the wireless microphone band. Without filtering, these out-of-band signals enter the wireless receiver's front end through the antenna, reducing dynamic range and increasing noise floor — even when those interfering signals are far removed from the target frequency. The BPF470T530 addresses this problem by presenting 40 dB of rejection to signals below 440 MHz and above 557 MHz, protecting the receiver from out-of-band saturation without requiring any active circuitry, software configuration, or power connection.

The filter connects inline between the antenna or antenna distribution system and the wireless microphone receiver input using standard BNC connectors. Its maximum insertion loss of 3.5 dB is predictable and consistent across the 470–530 MHz pass band, making it easy to compensate with an in-line amplifier on longer cable runs if needed. Two units are required for standard diversity wireless microphone systems — one per antenna input on the receiver. This filter is not suitable for IEM transmit chains or active antenna systems that pass DC bias over the coax.

Key Features

  • Hand-Tuned Pass Band — 470–530 MHz pass band precisely tuned to match Shure G50, G1, and Audio-Technica DE2 band allocations.
  • 40 dB Side Rejection — Blocks out-of-band RF signals that cause receiver saturation, IMD, and dynamic range compression.
  • Passive Design — No power required; connects inline via standard BNC connectors with no software or configuration needed.
  • Low Insertion Loss — Maximum 3.5 dB insertion loss across the pass band, predictable and compensable with in-line amplification.
  • Compact Form Factor — 3" x 1.75" footprint fits in any rack or cable tray without dedicated mounting hardware.
  • Wide Operating Temperature — Rated -30 to 70°C for reliable performance in all venue environments.

Typical Applications

Suitable for:

  • House of worship — protecting wireless mic receivers in RF-congested urban environments
  • Auditorium — filtering antenna feeds in large-scale wireless microphone systems
  • Conference room — reducing intermodulation in multi-channel wireless mic systems
  • Broadcast studio — isolating specific UHF bands in high-density RF environments
  • Government space — RF management in secure or high-RF-density facilities
  • Multi-purpose room — inline filtering for touring wireless systems using this frequency band

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need one or two BPF470T530 filters for a diversity wireless system?

Two filters are required for a standard diversity wireless microphone receiver — one per antenna input. Each antenna feed must be filtered independently.

Will the BPF470T530 work with my Shure wireless system?

The BPF470T530 is compatible with Shure G50 and G1 band wireless systems that operate within the 470–530 MHz range. Check your specific Shure model's operating frequency before purchasing to confirm compatibility.

Can I use this filter with an active antenna or antenna distribution system?

No. The BPF470T530 does not pass DC bias voltage, which means it cannot be used in-line with active antennas or antenna distribution systems that require DC power over the coaxial cable. It must be placed after the DC path in the signal chain.

Will the 3.5 dB insertion loss cause signal problems?

In most cases, 3.5 dB of insertion loss is acceptable and will not cause performance issues. If you are working with marginal signal levels or long cable runs, adding an RF Venue ILAMP-ACT in-line amplifier (rated at 10 dB of gain) upstream of the filter can compensate for the loss.

Can this filter be used in an IEM transmit chain?

No. Band-pass filters are designed for receive-only applications. Using a filter in an IEM transmit chain will attenuate the transmitted signal and is not recommended.
