Product Overview

The ZeeVee Z4KENCF3U ZyPer4K HDMI 2.0 Fiber Encoder with USB combines multimode fiber connectivity with USB 2.0 KVM extension in a single SDVoE encoder, making it the complete solution for secure, long-distance KVM-over-IP deployments. It delivers uncompressed 4K60 4:4:4 video at zero-frame latency over fiber runs up to 300 meters while simultaneously extending USB HID peripherals to remote operator endpoints. For ZyPer4K fiber encoder deployment scenarios that require both extended reach and operator interactivity — such as control rooms in separate buildings or broadcast facilities with remote production positions — the Z4KENCF3U eliminates the need for separate KVM extenders or additional infrastructure. It integrates into any standards-based 10GbE fiber network and is managed centrally by the ZyPer Management Platform.

Product Description

The Z4KENCF3U builds on the Z4KENCF3 fiber encoder by adding a USB 2.0 Type B port for keyboard, mouse, and USB HID peripheral extension across the SDVoE IP network. This makes it possible to centralize computing hardware in a secure or climate-controlled machine room while providing operators at remote decoder endpoints with full KVM access over fiber runs that exceed copper distance limits. The encoder accepts HDMI 2.0 sources with HDCP 2.2 pass-through and uses the SDVoE protocol to deliver uncompressed 4K60 4:4:4 video with no frame buffering or compression loss. The primary 10Gb connection is via SFP+ fiber transceiver supporting multimode at 850nm up to 300 meters, with a 1Gb utility RJ45 for management traffic or downstream device connectivity. Audio support includes LPCM up to 8 channels over HDMI and an unbalanced 3.5mm stereo analog I/O for local program audio. RS-232 and IR extension ports allow control signal transport across the IP network for integration with room control systems. The ZyPer Management Platform (ZMP) manages all encoder-decoder routing, video wall configurations up to 15x15, and multiview layouts with up to 19 simultaneous sources. Security features include HDCP 2.2, AES-128, and 802.1X authentication.

Key Features

  • Fiber plus USB KVM — Combines 300-meter multimode fiber reach with USB 2.0 KVM extension in a single encoder unit.
  • Uncompressed 4K60 4:4:4 — SDVoE transport with no compression for broadcast, visualization, and simulation-grade signal fidelity.
  • Zero-Frame Latency — Real-time video and peripheral response for control room and production applications.
  • 10Gb SFP+ Fiber Interface — Multimode, 850nm, up to 300m per segment, providing electrical isolation and EMI immunity.
  • USB 2.0 Type B Port — Extends keyboard, mouse, and USB HID devices to remote decoder endpoints over the IP network.
  • 8-Channel LPCM Audio — Full multi-channel audio transport over the same fiber connection as video.
  • RS-232 and IR Extension — Control signal pass-through for room automation and control system integration.
  • AES-128 and 802.1X Security — Enterprise encryption and authentication for secure AV and KVM distribution.

Typical Applications

  • KVM-over-IP deployments with inter-building fiber runs
  • Secure operations centers with centralized computing accessed from remote operator positions
  • Broadcast production facilities with remote operator workstations in separate areas
  • Large venue AV distribution with operator control at distributed positions
  • Campus environments where copper runs are insufficient and KVM access is required
  • Healthcare facilities requiring both electrical isolation and KVM access to centralized medical workstations

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the primary use case for the Z4KENCF3U over the Z4KENCF3?
The Z4KENCF3U adds USB 2.0 KVM extension. Choose this model when operators at remote display locations need keyboard, mouse, or USB HID peripheral access to source machines in addition to video. If only video distribution is required, the Z4KENCF3 is sufficient.
Can the Z4KENCF3U be paired with a copper decoder?
Yes. The fiber encoder is fully interoperable with copper ZyPer4K decoders on the same SDVoE network. USB pass-through will function if the paired decoder also has a USB port; video and audio routing work regardless.
What fiber type is required?
The Z4KENCF3U requires multimode fiber, 850nm wavelength, OM3 or OM4 recommended for the full 300-meter run. Single-mode fiber is not supported on this model.
How is the USB peripheral routed to a specific remote user?
USB routing follows the video routing configured in ZMP. When a decoder is mapped to this encoder, its USB port connects to the encoder's USB source. Routing changes in ZMP update both video and USB simultaneously.
Is the SFP+ transceiver included?
SFP+ transceivers are typically sold separately. Confirm the correct transceiver type with your ZeeVee distributor based on your fiber plant specifications and switch compatibility.
