Product Overview

The Williams AV FM ADA KIT 1 is an economical FM assistive listening kit for satisfying Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements in venues such as auditoriums, theaters, conference facilities, and houses of worship. The kit pairs a PPA T27 base transmitter — with a broadcast range of up to 1,000 feet — with two R37 FM receivers, earphones, neckloops, and ADA signage, providing everything needed to launch a compliant hearing assistance program. Operating on the 72–76 MHz band reserved for auditory assistance, it is a straightforward starting point for any facility required to provide equal access for listeners with hearing loss.

Product Description

The ADA requires public facilities to provide equal access to people with disabilities, including those who need hearing assistance in assembly areas. The FM ADA KIT 1 addresses that requirement without a complex installation. The included PPA T27 transmitter broadcasts a presenter's voice, music program, or audio service wirelessly up to 1,000 feet. A presenter can plug a microphone with a 3.5 mm plug directly into the unit, or the transmitter can take a line-level feed from the house sound system through its RCA jack — the typical configuration in auditoriums and worship spaces where a mixer or DSP already handles program audio.

Two PPA R37 body-pack receivers pick up the broadcast on any of 17 preset wideband channels between 72 and 76 MHz. Each receiver includes an EAR 013 single mini earbud and AA alkaline batteries, and two NKL 001 neckloops are provided for listeners with telecoil-equipped hearing aids or cochlear implants, who hear the program directly through their own devices. Receivers run approximately 50 hours per pair of alkaline cells and can be switched to NiMH rechargeable operation with drop-in charger compatibility as the system grows.

The kit also includes the IDP 008 ADA wall plaque to notify visitors that assistive listening is available, plus the ANT 021 antenna and TFP 036 power supply for the transmitter. The system is made in the USA and carries the Williams AV Lifetime PLUS Limited Warranty, with 90 days on accessories. Note: the PPA T27 transmitter is FCC-approved for U.S. markets only, ships with a US plug type, and FCC rules limit this equipment to auditory assistance.

Facilities with larger audiences can add receivers individually or in bulk — see the PPA R38-20 twenty-receiver bundle — or browse the Williams AV assistive listening collection for chargers, microphones, and neckloops.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the FM ADA KIT 1 connect to an existing sound system?

The PPA T27 transmitter has a line-level RCA input that connects to an aux or matrix output on the house mixer or DSP, so the assistive listening broadcast mirrors the program feed. A 3.5 mm microphone input is also available for standalone use.

Is two receivers enough for ADA compliance?

ADA Section 219 ties required receiver counts to assembly area seating capacity, so many venues will need more than two. The kit is the economical foundation; additional R37 or R38 receivers can be added at any time since all Williams Sound 72–76 MHz receivers are compatible.

Can hearing aid users connect to the system?

Yes. The two included NKL 001 neckloops plug into the receivers and couple inductively to telecoil-equipped hearing aids and cochlear implants, which the ADA expects for a portion of provided receivers.

Does the transmitter require professional installation?

The FCC requires the ANT 021 antenna to be professionally installed. The rest of the system setup — connecting audio, setting the channel, and distributing receivers — is straightforward for facility staff.

Can this kit be used outside the United States?

No. The PPA T27 is FCC-approved for U.S. markets, ships with a US plug, and the 72–76 MHz band is not authorized in all countries. Check local radio regulations before any international deployment.

What warranty covers the system?

Williams AV provides a Lifetime PLUS Limited Warranty on the transmitter and receivers, with 90 days on accessories such as earphones and batteries.
