Product Overview

The Shure SBC240 Two-Bay Networked Docking Charger provides a compact, network-enabled charging solution for Axient Digital wireless systems, supporting any combination of two SB910 or SB920 Li-Ion batteries, or docked ADX1, ADX2, or ADX2FD transmitters. Its 10/100 Mbps Ethernet connection enables real-time battery monitoring via Shure Wireless Workbench software and integrates with AMX and Crestron control systems via TCP/IP—making it the standard networked charger for Axient Digital deployments in commercial AV environments. A power supply is not included with this model; the PS60 is required for operation and is sold separately, or available in the Shure SBC240-US bundle with PS60.

Product Description

Engineered specifically for the Shure Axient Digital platform, the SBC240 charges SB910 and SB920 batteries—the rechargeable cells used in ADX1 bodypack and ADX2/ADX2FD handheld transmitters—at up to 1.25 A charge current, reaching 50% capacity in one hour and full charge in three hours. Up to four SBC240 units can be ganged together using the side connector to share a single PS60 power supply and Ethernet connection, significantly reducing cabling overhead in multi-system wireless racks. Storage Mode prepares batteries for long-term storage by charging or discharging them to 3.8 V, the optimal voltage for extended non-use periods. For Axient Digital deployments requiring 8-bay rack charging, the Shure SBC840-US 8-Bay Networked Tray Charger is also available at Creation Networks.

Key Features

  • Axient Digital Transmitter Docking — Charges any combination of 2 SB910/SB920 batteries or docked ADX1, ADX2, or ADX2FD transmitters directly, eliminating the need to remove batteries from transmitters for charging.
  • 1.25 A Charge Current — Higher charge current than the SBC220 supports faster charging for Axient Digital battery cells; 50% capacity in 1 hour, full charge in 3 hours.
  • Ethernet-Enabled Wireless Workbench Monitoring — 10/100 Mbps network connection provides real-time battery health, charge percentage, temperature, and cycle count data via Shure Wireless Workbench software.
  • AMX/Crestron Control System Integration — TCP/IP command string interface on port 2202 allows integration with third-party AV control systems for centralized battery status in commercial AV installations.
  • 4-Unit Ganging — Up to 4 SBC240 units (or any combination of SBC240 and SBC220) can share a single power supply and Ethernet connection, reducing rack cabling in high-channel-count wireless deployments.
  • Storage Mode — Charges or discharges cells to 3.8 V for long-term battery storage; recommended for batteries stored longer than 8 days.
  • Vertical Mounting — Three mounting points on the base allow surface mounting in any orientation for flexible AV installation configurations.
  • No Power Supply Included — PS60 power supply required; sold separately or included in the SBC240-US model.

Frequently Asked Questions

What batteries and transmitters are compatible with the SBC240?
The SBC240 is specifically designed for the Shure Axient Digital system. It charges SB910 and SB920 batteries, and accepts docked ADX1, ADX2, and ADX2FD transmitters. It does not charge SB900-series batteries; those require the SBC220 or SBC210.

Does this model include a power supply?
No. The SBC240 does not include a power supply. The Shure PS60 is required for operation and must be purchased separately. The SBC240-US includes the PS60 and is available at Creation Networks.

Can the SBC240 be ganged with SBC220 chargers?
Yes. Up to 4 units in any combination of SBC240 and SBC220 chargers can share a single PS60 power supply and one Ethernet connection. Note that only SB910/SB920 batteries should be charged in SBC240 bays; SB900-series batteries require the SBC220.

How does the SBC240 integrate with Wireless Workbench?
Connect the SBC240 to your network via the Ethernet port, open Wireless Workbench (free download from Shure), and the charger appears in the Inventory tab. It reports per-bay charge percentage, battery health, cycle count, and temperature for both docked batteries and transmitters.

What warranty applies?
Shure provides a limited 2-year manufacturer warranty on the SBC240. Contact Creation Networks for commercial procurement and volume support options.
