Product Overview
The Shure AD4D-DCTA=-A is a TAA-compliant Axient Digital two-channel wireless receiver with an integrated DC power module, operating in Band A (470–636 MHz). Designed for professional commercial AV rack installations, it delivers transparent digital audio with Dante networking, AES3 digital output, AES-256 encryption, and High Density (HD) mode in a 1U rack-mount form factor. The included DC power module enables redundant power connectivity for mission-critical government, broadcast, and commercial AV deployments. Compatible with all Axient Digital AD and ADX series transmitters.
Product Description
The AD4D-DCTA=-A brings full Axient Digital RF and audio performance to TAA-compliant procurement channels, paired with the DC power module for redundant power in mission-critical installations. Two independent receiver channels each provide true digital diversity reception with 2.08 ms latency (Standard mode) and 130 dB A-weighted dynamic range on digital outputs. The receiver supports up to 210 MHz of tuning range within Band A (470–636 MHz), enabling wide-band frequency coordination in congested RF environments. High Density mode supports up to 47 active transmitters per 6 MHz TV channel, making it well-suited for large-scale commercial conference facilities, broadcast studios, and government spaces requiring dense wireless microphone deployments. Networked control via Dante, AES67, AES3, and four Ethernet ports (Dante Primary/Secondary plus two control ports) simplifies integration into commercial AV networks managed by Wireless Workbench or third-party control systems including AMX and Crestron. The receiver cascades RF to one additional unit of the same band for expanded deployments.

For compatible TAA-compliant handheld transmitters in the same band, see the Shure AD2TA/SM58=-G57 or Shure AD2TA/K9N=-G57.
Key Features
- TAA Compliance with DC Power Module — Meets Trade Agreements Act requirements for government and federal procurement, with the DC power module providing redundant power for mission-critical commercial AV and broadcast installations.
- Two-Channel True Digital Diversity Reception — Each channel uses true digital diversity to maintain a clean RF link, with antenna cascade ports to share signal with one additional receiver in the same band.
- Band A Tuning (470–636 MHz) — Up to 210 MHz of tuning range within Band A enables wide-band frequency coordination across the commercial UHF spectrum.
- Dante, AES3, and AES67 Digital Audio Output — Multiple digital audio output formats simplify integration into commercial AV infrastructure, with four Ethernet ports in Switched or Split/Redundant networking modes.
- 130 dB A-Weighted Dynamic Range (Digital Output) — Exceptional dynamic range on Dante and AES3 outputs ensures transparent audio performance across all source types and gain settings.
- AES-256 Encryption — Hardware encryption on all receiver channels secures audio against unauthorized interception, required for government and secure commercial environments.
- High Density Mode — Supports up to 47 active transmitters per 6 MHz TV channel (63 per 8 MHz channel) for dense commercial wireless deployments.
- 2.08 ms Latency (Standard Mode) — Low-latency digital audio path is compatible with professional AV system designs requiring tight timing across distributed audio networks.
- 1U Rack-Mount Form Factor — Standard EIA 1U rack mount integrates into commercial AV equipment racks alongside DSPs, amplifiers, and network audio infrastructure.
- Frequency Diversity Support — Supports Combining mode with ADX2FD frequency-diversity transmitters and Selection mode with paired AD1/ADX1 transmitters for uninterrupted audio on mission-critical channels.
- Up to 8 Registered Transmitters per Channel — Each receiver channel can hold up to 8 assigned transmitters, enabling flexible transmitter pooling for quick changeovers in broadcast and live event applications.
- Wireless Workbench and Control System Integration — Managed via Shure Wireless Workbench 6, Wireless Workbench Mobile, AMX, Crestron, and other third-party control systems for comprehensive commercial AV system integration.

Frequently Asked Questions
What transmitters are compatible with the AD4D-DCTA=-A?
This receiver is compatible with all Shure Axient Digital AD and ADX series transmitters (AD1, AD2, ADX1, ADX2, ADX2FD, Q5X) operating in the same Band A frequency range (470–636 MHz). Always confirm band matching before system assembly and installation.
What is the DC power module and why is it included?
The DC power module allows the AD4D-DC to accept an optional secondary DC power feed (10.9–14.8V DC) in addition to the standard AC supply, enabling redundant power for mission-critical commercial AV deployments. This is commonly used in broadcast facilities, government spaces, and enterprise conference rooms where uninterrupted operation is required.
What does TAA compliance mean for procurement?
TAA compliance makes this product eligible for GSA Schedule purchases and federal contract procurement vehicles requiring Buy American compliance. This is required for most government, defense, and institutional AV installations.
How does Dante networking integrate with this receiver?
The AD4D-DCTA=-A provides two Dante-enabled Ethernet ports (Primary and Secondary) plus two control network ports. In Switched mode, all four ports carry Dante audio and Shure control on a single network. In Split/Redundant mode, Dante and control traffic are separated for isolation. Dante Controller software manages audio routing to any Dante-enabled destination on the network.
What is High Density mode and how many channels does it support?
High Density (HD) mode reduces channel spacing to 125 kHz, enabling up to 47 active transmitters in a single 6 MHz TV channel (up to 63 in an 8 MHz TV channel). It is designed for high-density deployments in confined areas with short transmitter-to-receiver distances where spectrum is limited. Standard mode operates at 350 kHz channel spacing and supports higher transmit power levels for extended range.
Can this receiver be managed by AMX or Crestron control systems?
Yes. The AD4D receiver supports third-party control system integration with AMX and Crestron via the same network used for Dante audio and Wireless Workbench control. Shure also provides a Wireless Workbench Mobile app for on-site monitoring and management.
What warranty applies?
Shure provides a two-year limited warranty on the AD4D receiver. Contact Shure support or your authorized commercial AV dealer for warranty service and RMA procedures.
