In commercial buildings, educational facilities, and hospitality environments where coaxial cabling is already installed—typically from existing cable TV or satellite distribution infrastructure—running new Ethernet drops to every display endpoint or meeting room can be cost-prohibitive. The ECB7250 provides an alternative: use the existing coax wiring as a high-speed Ethernet backbone without any construction or cable pulling.

The ECB7250 uses bonded MoCA 2.5 technology to aggregate two MoCA channels, achieving throughput up to 2.5 Gbps over the coax run. This provides sufficient bandwidth for 4K video streaming, AV-over-IP distribution, or high-speed data connectivity for workstations and networked devices. The adapter requires a 2.5G-compatible RJ-45 port on the connected router or switch; it will negotiate down to 1 GbE speeds in standard Gigabit Ethernet environments.

A minimum of two ECB7250 units are required—one at the router and one at the remote endpoint—or one ECB7250 paired with another MoCA 2.5-compatible adapter. The adapter operates as a transparent Ethernet bridge: once the coax and RJ-45 connections are made and the unit is powered, it presents as a standard wired Ethernet connection to the attached device.
