Product Overview
The RGB Spectrum XV DVI TX is the transmitter endpoint of the XtendView FiberDVI extender system, converting a DVI signal to optical and sending it over a single strand of fiber to a paired XtendView receiver at distances up to 1300 ft (400 m). This compact fiber DVI cable extender uses an all-in-the-headshell design that fits entirely within the DVI connector housing, eliminating external boxes for clean, secure long-distance signal extension. It is HDCP 1.4 compliant and supports HDMI signals with embedded audio at resolutions up to 1920x1200 and 2048x1152. The XV DVI TX is a strong fit for integrators extending DVI from RGB Spectrum wall processors, multiviewers, and switchers to remote displays in control rooms, command centers, and large commercial spaces.
Product Description
The XV DVI TX sits at the source side of an XtendView link, taking the electrical DVI signal from a processor output or other DVI-D source and converting it to an optical signal for transmission over fiber. The endpoint is fitted with an industry-standard SC fiber jack and a DVI-D connector, and its miniaturized electronics mount directly to the chassis of a compatible RGB Spectrum device, greatly simplifying installation. An integrated data channel carries EDID and HDCP data combined with the video, so a single fiber handles the full signal path. The transmitter also supports embedded audio in HDMI signals.

Fiber optic cable is ideal for transmitting DVI signals over moderate to long distances because it is lightweight, secure, and immune to EMF and RFI interference, with plenum-rated and armored cable types available for special security and code requirements. For installation flexibility, the XV DVI TX can be pin-powered or run from the included external power supply. XtendView TX and RX endpoints are compatible with all RGB Spectrum wall processors, multiviewers, switchers, and AV devices from other manufacturers, making fiber extension straightforward to add to an existing signal routing or video wall design. Key Features
- Fiber DVI Transmitter — Converts a DVI signal to optical and sends it over a single strand of fiber to a paired XtendView receiver at distances up to 1300 ft (400 m).
- All-in-the-Headshell Design — Houses miniaturized electronics entirely within the DVI connector to eliminate external boxes and simplify installation.
- Pin-Power or External Supply — Can draw pin power from the connected device or run from the included external power supply for installation flexibility.
- HDCP 1.4 Compliant — Passes HDCP-protected content and supports real-time EDID pass-through over the integrated data channel.
- Single-Fiber Operation — Combines video, EDID, and HDCP data so only one fiber is required for the full signal path.
- HDMI Embedded Audio — Supports embedded audio carried in HDMI signals alongside the DVI video.
- High-Resolution Support — Handles single-link resolutions up to 1920x1200 and 2048x1152.
- Broad Device Compatibility — Works with all RGB Spectrum wall processors, multiviewers, and switchers, as well as AV devices from other manufacturers.
Typical Applications
- Command and control centers — Extending DVI from processors and switchers to remote displays across a facility over secure fiber.
- Government spaces — Secure installations that benefit from fiber immunity to interference and tapping.
- Auditoriums — Long fiber runs from a control room to stage or house displays.
- Broadcast studios — Routing DVI signals between machine rooms and production displays over distance.
- Commercial meeting spaces — Distributing video to displays across large buildings or campuses.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the XV DVI TX work with?
It is the transmitter endpoint of the XtendView FiberDVI system and pairs with an XtendView receiver. The endpoints are compatible with all RGB Spectrum wall processors, multiviewers, and switchers, as well as AV devices from other manufacturers with DVI-D connectors.
How far can it extend a DVI signal?
The XtendView link extends DVI up to 1300 ft (400 m) over a single strand of multimode fiber using OM3 or better cable, carrying video, EDID, and HDCP on the one fiber.
How is it mounted and powered?
The all-in-the-headshell endpoint mounts directly to the DVI-D connector on a compatible device, so no external box is needed. The transmitter can be pin-powered or run from the included external power supply.
Does it support HDCP-protected content and audio?
Yes. The XV DVI TX is HDCP 1.4 compliant, supports real-time EDID pass-through, and carries embedded audio in HDMI signals.
