The Middle Atlantic U2V is a vented utility rack shelf that occupies 2 rack spaces in any standard 19-inch rack. The shelf base and sides are both vented to promote airflow around heat-producing gear, making it the ventilated counterpart to the solid U2 shelf in Middle Atlantic's U Series utility shelf family. It supports up to 50 lbs (23 kg) of non-rackmount equipment on a surface that accepts components up to 17-3/8 inches (44.13 cm) wide, and ships with three rear brackets to keep items from sliding off the back.

Product Description

Every rack build eventually has to house something that was never designed for rack mounting: a small switch, a streaming device, a modem, a media player, or an external drive. The Middle Atlantic U2V provides a sturdy 2U platform for exactly that equipment, with a key difference from the standard U2 shelf: both the base and the sides are vented. Those perforations let convection air move through and around components sitting on the shelf, which matters when the device on the shelf runs warm and would otherwise trap heat against a solid steel surface. The shelf installs in standard 19-inch rack rail and creates a storage surface for objects up to 17-3/8 inches wide, with a 14.75-inch usable depth. Front and rear flanges stiffen the shelf for a 50 lb (23 kg) weight capacity, and the three included rear brackets act as a backstop so devices cannot slide off the rear of the shelf when cables are pulled or the rack is rolled. A flat black powder coat finish matches Middle Atlantic racks and rack accessories. Within the U Series family, choose the U2V when ventilation matters, the solid U2 for general storage, or the U2MS center-mount vented shelf when gear needs to mount mid-rail.
