Product Overview

The Draper Acumen XL V is a surface-mounted, tab-tensioned motorized projection screen engineered for large-venue commercial AV installations. This 161" diagonal HDTV (16:9) model is a 161" large-format motorized projection screen for auditoriums, houses of worship, and large training and all-hands spaces. Its RF-welded tab-tensioning holds the surface flat for an even, wrinkle-free 16:9 image across a wide viewing plane, while the streamlined aluminum case keeps the installation discreet. All units ship through Creation Networks at authorized-dealer pricing with Draper's seven-year warranty.

Product Description

The Draper Acumen XL V large-format projection screen extends the Acumen platform to image widths up to 18' (5.5 m) for rooms that seat large audiences. A lateral tab-guide cable system with RF-welded tabs maintains even tension across the full image width, keeping the 16:9 picture flat for accurate geometry with HD and UHD sources at scale. The surface rolls on a 5" (127 mm) diameter metal roller housed in a streamlined extruded-aluminum case 9-1/4" high by 8-1/8" deep, finished in white powder coat (black available on request). Because the Acumen XL V is surface-mounted rather than recessed, it ships with both floating wall brackets and ceiling suspension brackets, so the same unit can be wall- or ceiling-mounted without ordering separate hardware. A removable fascia provides direct access to the roller and motor for service. The low-voltage tubular motor is instantly reversible and includes an electric brake and thermal overload protector, and it ships with a built-in low-voltage controller and wall switch for straightforward control-system integration. At 161" diagonal it is a strong fit for auditoriums, worship spaces, and large multi-purpose rooms that need a dependable large-format motorized screen. Pair it with a compatible unit from our commercial projectors collection and a bracket from our projector mounts and lifts collection to complete the system. Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the Acumen XL V a large-format screen?

The XL V case supports image widths up to 18' (5.5 m), well beyond the standard Acumen V's 10' maximum. This 161" diagonal HDTV configuration is sized for auditoriums and other large-audience venues.

Is the Acumen XL V a tensioned screen?

Yes. As a Draper Series V screen, it is tab-tensioned. RF-welded tabs and a lateral tab-guide cable system hold the surface flat across the full width, which is important for maintaining flatness on a large image plane.

Is this screen recessed into the ceiling?

No. The Acumen XL V is a surface-mounted screen. It installs on a wall or below the ceiling using the included floating brackets and ceiling suspension brackets, and does not require an above-ceiling recessed pocket.

What projectors and mounts are compatible?

The Acumen XL V works with any commercial front projector matched to its 161" HDTV format and your room's throw distance. Larger venues often use high-lumen or laser projectors; browse our commercial projectors and projector mounts and lifts, or contact us for a throw-distance calculation.

How does it integrate with a control system?

The screen ships with a built-in low-voltage controller and wall switch. The instantly reversible motor, with its electric brake and thermal overload protector, can be tied into most commercial control systems for trigger or contact-closure operation; contact us for integration guidance.

What warranty and support are included?

The Acumen XL V is UL Listed and carries Draper's seven-year warranty (USA and Canada), supplied through Creation Networks as an authorized dealer. Contact us at creationnetworks.net for pre-sale specification help and post-sale support.
