Product Overview

The Draper Access XL V is a large-format, ceiling-recessed, tab-tensioned electric projection screen built for large venues that need an expansive image and a fully concealed screen when idle. This 255" diagonal 16:10 model (135" x 216" viewable) uses the tensioned Matt White XT1000VB surface with a 1.0-gain image across a 180° viewing cone, making it well suited to ballrooms, conference centers, and university lecture halls. Tab-tensioning with RF-welded tabs holds the surface perfectly flat across its full 18' potential width. All units ship through Creation Networks at authorized-dealer pricing with Draper's standard warranty.

Product Description

The Draper Access XL V 255" large-format ceiling-recessed projection screen (Part # 147007) is specified by integrators equipping large rooms where a tab-tensioned image and discreet architectural integration both matter. The steel case installs into a ceiling pocket with a trim flange during the building phase, and the screen can be added later to reduce the risk of job-site damage; when retracted, the screen is completely hidden for a clean ceiling line. This is a Series V tab-tensioned projection screen: the image surface is held flat by tensioning tabs down each side, with RF-welded tabs that resist stickiness and separation and are warranted against separation for five years. The image area is fully framed in black with a standard 12" (30 cm) black drop at the top of the viewing area, and the tensioned Matt White XT1000VB surface delivers a uniformly bright 1.0-gain image with a 180° viewing cone and black backing, recommended where ambient light can be reasonably controlled. A detachable bottom access panel door simplifies service, and sliding brackets on top of and inside the case give installers latitude for mounting and screen sizing. Pair it with a compatible unit from our commercial projectors collection and a bracket or lift from our projector mounts and lifts collection to complete the system. Key Features

  • Large-format ceiling-recessed design — The case recesses into the ceiling with a trim flange and conceals the screen completely when retracted, for image widths up to 18' (549 cm).
  • Tab-tensioned Series V surface — Side tensioning tabs hold the viewing surface flat for a wrinkle-free image at large sizes.
  • RF-welded tabs — The welded tabs resist stickiness and separation and are warranted against separation for five years.
  • 1.0-gain Matt White XT1000VB surface — The tensioned matt white surface delivers a uniformly bright image with accurate color across a 180° viewing cone, with black backing.
  • Black-framed image with top drop — The image area is fully framed in black with a standard 12" (30 cm) black drop at the top of the viewing area.
  • Install-early case — The case can be mounted during construction and the screen added later to reduce job-site damage risk.
  • Detachable bottom access panel — The panel door opens for service and maintenance without removing the full case from the ceiling.
  • Adjustable mounting and hoisting brackets — Sliding top and interior brackets plus removable hoisting brackets ease alignment and lifting of the large case.
  • Draper warranty through an authorized dealer — Supplied by Creation Networks with full manufacturer warranty coverage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Access XL V tab-tensioned?

Yes. It is a Series V tab-tensioned screen. Tensioning tabs down each side hold the viewing surface flat for a wrinkle-free image at large sizes, and the RF-welded tabs are warranted against separation for five years.

How large can this screen go?

The Access XL V supports image widths up to 18' (549 cm). This configuration is a 255" diagonal 16:10 screen with a 135" x 216" viewable area. Custom sizes within the model maximum are available on request.

What is the benefit of the Matt White XT1000VB surface?

Matt White XT1000VB is a tensioned, black-backed unity-gain (1.0) surface with a 180° viewing cone and accurate color. It is recommended for all projector types in rooms where ambient light can be reasonably controlled, and it is GREENGUARD Gold certified.

Can the case be installed before the screen during construction?

Yes. The case is designed to be mounted during the building phase, with the tensioned screen added later to reduce the risk of job-site damage on a large, high-value assembly.

What projectors and mounts are compatible with the Access XL V?

It works with commercial front projectors matched to its large 16:10 format and the room's throw distance. Browse our commercial projectors and projector mounts and lifts, or contact us for a throw-distance calculation for the venue.

Does the screen integrate with Crestron or Control4 systems?

Yes. The motor ships with a 3-position switch as standard, and low-voltage control options let the screen be driven by third-party control systems such as Crestron or Control4 within a larger AV automation design.

What warranty and support are included?

The Access XL V carries Draper's standard 5-year manufacturer warranty, with the RF-welded tensioning tabs also warranted against separation for five years, supplied through Creation Networks as an authorized dealer.
