Product Overview

The Draper Access XL V is a large-format, ceiling-recessed motorized tab-tensioned projection screen built for large venues where a flat, wave-free image and fully concealed installation are both required. This 248" diagonal HDTV (16:9) model uses RF-welded tab-tensioning to hold the surface perfectly flat across its width and retracts completely above the ceiling line when not in use. As a tab-tensioned projection screen in Draper's Access XL series, it is designed for ballrooms, conference centers, auditoriums, and large multi-purpose rooms. All units ship through Creation Networks at authorized-dealer pricing with Draper's 5-year warranty.

Product Description

The Draper Access XL V tab-tensioned projection screen is specified by integrators who need maximum image flatness at very large sizes in a concealed, ceiling-recessed package. This unit is configured with the Matt White XT1000VB surface, a reference matt white surface with neutral color rendition and a wide viewing angle, in a 248" 16:9 format on a 220 V supply. Unlike the free-hanging Access XL E, the Access XL V is tab-tensioned: RF-welded tabs hold the viewing surface taut and flat, eliminating waves for critical, large-image front projection. The RF-welded tabs also resist stickiness and separation and are warranted against separation for five years. The image area is fully framed in black with a standard 12" (30 cm) black drop at the top of the viewing area to position the image correctly in the room. The case installs during the building phase and the screen can be added later to reduce the risk of jobsite damage, and when retracted the screen is completely hidden for a clean ceiling appearance. A detachable bottom access panel provides service access, sliding brackets inside and on top of the case handle alignment, and adjustable hoisting brackets ease lifting of the large assembly during installation. Quiet and low-voltage motor options are available for control-system integration. Pair it with a high-output unit from our commercial projectors collection and a bracket from our projector mounts and lifts collection to complete the system. Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Access XL V tab-tensioned?

Yes. The Access XL V is a tab-tensioned screen. RF-welded tabs hold the surface flat and wave-free across the full width, which is important for critical, large-image front projection. This is the key difference from the free-hanging Access XL E.

How durable is the tab-tensioning?

The tabs are RF-welded to resist stickiness and separation, and Draper warrants the tabs against separation for five years. This makes the design well suited to permanent, high-use large-venue installations.

How is a large-format Access XL V installed?

The case is ceiling-recessed and can be installed during the building phase, with the screen added later to reduce jobsite damage. Sliding and adjustable hoisting brackets assist with lifting and aligning the large assembly, and a bottom access panel allows service.

Can it integrate with an AV control system?

Yes. This unit is supplied on a 220 V motor, and quiet and low-voltage motor options are available for automated up/down control from a Crestron, Control4, or similar system. Contact us to confirm the right motor and controller for your project.

What projectors and mounts are compatible?

The Access XL V works with high-output commercial projectors matched to its 248" 16:9 format and the venue's throw distance. Browse our commercial projectors and projector mounts and lifts, or contact us for a throw-distance calculation.

What warranty and support are included?

The Access XL V carries Draper's 5-year warranty, supplied through Creation Networks as an authorized dealer. Contact us at creationnetworks.net for pre-sale specification help and post-sale support.
