Product Overview
The Draper Access XL E is a large-format, ceiling-recessed motorized projection screen built for wide-image front projection in ballrooms, conference centers, and university lecture halls. This 278" diagonal 16:10 widescreen model uses a free-hanging, non-tensioned surface that stays flat under the weight of the screen and its bottom dowel, giving integrators a clean wide picture for large-audience commercial AV deployments. When retracted, the ceiling-recessed case conceals the screen completely for a finished ceiling line. Supplied by Creation Networks at authorized-dealer pricing with Draper's standard warranty.
Product Description
The Draper Access XL E large-format projection screen is specified where a single wide image must serve a large room, with the case recessed into the ceiling and hidden behind a bottom access panel when not in use. As a Series E screen, the viewing surface is free-hanging and non-tensioned; flatness is maintained by the screen's own weight and a bottom dowel rather than tab-tensioning, which keeps the mechanism simple and reliable at large widths up to 20' (610 cm). The compact case measures 10-1/8" high by 9-7/16" deep including the trim flange, and the unit installs in two stages: the case is set during construction so the fabric roller can be added later to avoid job-site damage. Adjustable, removable hoisting brackets assist lifting during installation, sliding brackets on top of the case allow mounting adjustment, and internal sliding brackets accommodate the screen assembly. The standard Matt White XT1000E surface is a unity-gain (1.0) material with a 180-degree extra-wide viewing cone and typical contrast, GREENGUARD Gold certified for indoor air quality, and Draper also offers a Chroma Key Green surface for broadcast and green-screen work. Motor control uses a 110V three-position switch as standard, with quiet low-voltage motors and 220V options available for integration with AV control systems. Pair it with a unit from our commercial projectors collection and a bracket from our projector mounts and lifts collection to complete the system, and browse the full Draper projection screen lineup or our wider projection screens range for alternate sizes and formats. Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Access XL E a tensioned screen?
No. The Access XL E is a Draper Series E screen, which is free-hanging and non-tensioned. The surface is held flat by the weight of the screen and a bottom dowel rather than tab-tensioning. If you require a tab-tensioned surface, consider a Series V model such as the Access V.
- How large an image can this screen produce?
This model is a 278" diagonal 16:10 widescreen with a 147 1/2" x 236" viewable area. Across the Access XL E line, Draper supports image widths up to 20' (610 cm) depending on the surface, which is why it is specified for ballrooms and large conference spaces.
- How is the Access XL E installed?
It is a ceiling-recessed screen. The case is typically mounted during construction using the included adjustable hoisting brackets, and the fabric assembly is added later to prevent job-site damage. A detachable bottom access panel allows service after installation.
- What projectors and mounts are compatible?
Any commercial front projector matched to a 278" 16:10 image and your room's throw distance will work. Browse our commercial projectors and projector mounts and lifts, or contact us for a throw-distance calculation.
- Can it integrate with an AV control system?
Yes. The standard 110V three-position switch can be replaced with quiet low-voltage motors and low-voltage control options, allowing the screen to be triggered by a control processor alongside projectors, lifts, and shades.
- What surface options are available?
The standard surface is Matt White XT1000E, a unity-gain (1.0) material with a 180-degree viewing cone and GREENGUARD Gold certification. A Chroma Key Green surface is available for broadcast and green-screen applications.
- What warranty and support are included?
The Access XL E carries Draper's 5-year manufacturer warranty and is UL Listed, supplied through Creation Networks as an authorized dealer. Contact us at creationnetworks.net for pre-sale specification help and post-sale support.
