Product Overview
The Draper Access V with Grey XH600V surface is a motorized, ceiling-recessed tab-tensioned projection screen built for commercial AV installations that require full concealment and improved image contrast under ambient light conditions. Designed for boardrooms, conference rooms, and training rooms, this Access V pairs Draper's precision tab-tensioning mechanism with a 0.6-gain grey surface that reduces washout from room lighting—effective in spaces where full light control isn't possible. The plenum-rated, UL-Listed housing fits standard above-ceiling spaces without additional enclosures.
Product Description

The Draper Access V with Grey XH600V viewing surface addresses a practical challenge in commercial AV: projection in spaces that experience partial ambient light during presentations. With a 0.6 gain, the Grey XH600V surface absorbs stray light more effectively than standard white surfaces, improving perceived contrast while maintaining adequate brightness for most commercial projectors. It is well-suited for conference rooms with perimeter windows, overhead lighting that can't be fully dimmed, or any environment where light control is partial rather than absolute.
The Access V housing is designed for full ceiling recessing. When retracted, the screen disappears completely into the ceiling, leaving only a trimmed opening—appropriate for executive boardrooms and high-finish corporate environments where wall-mounted or surface-mounted screens are not acceptable. The bottom flange trims the ceiling opening cleanly without additional millwork.
Draper's case-now, screen-later installation method separates the rough-in and finish phases: the housing installs during construction before ceilings are closed, and the screen assembly—motor-in-roller with attached viewing surface—clicks into preset latching brackets and pin connectors when the space is ready for AV equipment. This eliminates job site damage to the viewing surface and supports phased deployment on multi-room commercial projects.
The single-piece RF-welded tab-tensioning system holds a consistently flat image plane across the full screen width, preventing the waviness common in non-tensioned motorized screens. Tabs are warranted against separation for five years. The motor-in-roller design keeps the motor concealed within the roller tube for smooth, reliable operation. The optional Quiet Motor further reduces operational noise in meeting-sensitive environments.
The optional LVC-IV Low Voltage Controller enables direct integration with Crestron, Extron, AMX, Control4, and other building automation systems via dry-contact low-voltage inputs. It can be built directly into the housing for below-ceiling access. Both Quiet Motor and LVC-IV options must be specified at time of order. The compact case—7-3/8" high × 8-1/16" deep—fits standard above-ceiling construction, and the bottom access panel detaches for straightforward service. Custom sizes and 220V motor options are available.
Key Features
- Grey XH600V Viewing Surface (0.6 Gain) — Reduces ambient light washout; improves perceived contrast in conference rooms and boardrooms with partial ambient light. Works best with projectors rated 3,000+ lumens.
- Ceiling-Recessed, Full-Concealment Design — Screen fully hides in ceiling when retracted; bottom flange trims ceiling opening for clean architectural finish.
- Tab-Tensioned, RF-Welded System — Single-piece tab tensioning maintains flat, uniform image plane; tabs warranted 5 years against separation.
- Case-Now, Screen-Later Installation — Housing installs during rough-in phase; screen assembly clicks in later via latching brackets and pin connectors, preventing job site damage.
- Compact Case Profile — 7-3/8" H × 8-1/16" D including trim flange; fits standard above-ceiling construction without custom framing.
- Quiet Motor Option — Reduces operational noise during deployment and retraction in meeting-sensitive environments.
- LVC-IV Low Voltage Controller Option — Dry-contact integration with Crestron, Extron, AMX, Control4, and other AV control systems; built into housing below ceiling.
- Plenum-Rated, UL-Listed Housing — Approved for use in environmental air-handling ceiling spaces; meets commercial building code requirements without added enclosures.
- Motor-in-Roller Design — Motor concealed in roller tube for quiet, smooth operation and clean housing profile.
- Custom Sizes Available — Standard sizes available up to 226" diagonal; custom sizes and 220V motor available on request.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Grey XH600V surface better for rooms with ambient light?
Yes. The 0.6-gain grey surface absorbs ambient light more effectively than standard 1.0-gain white surfaces, improving perceived contrast in spaces where full blackout is not achievable. Recommended for use with projectors rated at 3,000 lumens or higher.
Can the LVC-IV controller integrate with Crestron or Extron?
Yes. The LVC-IV Low Voltage Controller accepts dry-contact low-voltage inputs compatible with Crestron, Extron, AMX, Control4, and other building automation systems. Specify at time of order to have it built into the housing for below-ceiling access.
Is the Access V housing plenum-rated?
Yes. The case is UL Listed as Suitable for Use in Environmental Air Space, meeting plenum-rating requirements for air-handling ceiling spaces in commercial construction without requiring additional enclosures.
What is the case-now, screen-later installation method?
The housing is installed during the rough-in construction phase. The screen assembly—motor-in-roller and Grey XH600V viewing surface—is stored offsite, then snapped into preset latching brackets and pin connectors once the space is ready. This protects the viewing surface from job site damage.
Are custom sizes available?
Yes. Draper manufactures custom sizes within the maximum dimensions for the Access V. Contact Creation Networks for pricing on special sizes and 220V motor configurations.
What warranty covers the Access V?
The Access V carries a one-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. The RF-welded tab-tensioning system is warranted separately against separation for five years.
Can the case be ordered in black?
Yes. White is the standard case color; black is available on request at time of order.
