Product Overview

Portability is the point of this device, and Cisco says so directly: the Desk Mini is a portable all-in-one collaboration unit designed with an integrated handle so it can be carried from one room to another and turn any small space into a working position. CS-DESKMINI-S-K9 is the part number the distributor lists as Desert Sand, a name Cisco does not publish or define, since the only finishes Cisco documents for this family are First Light gray and Carbon Black. The platform is end-of-sale, with end-of-sale on July 13, 2026, a last ship date of October 14, 2026 and support to July 31, 2031, and Cisco names the Desk Pro G2 as the migration product.

Product Description

The deployment case that still sells this device is the space that was never designed for meetings: a flexible desk in a shared area, a hot-desk position used by a different person each day, or a home working setup that has to be packed away. The integrated handle and the fixed 11-degree tilt mean there is nothing to adjust or mount when it moves.

Cisco backs that with a specification that holds up in a poor acoustic environment. A three-element microphone system handles angle estimation and speech pickup, with acoustic echo cancellation, de-reverberation, noise removal and an optimize-for-my-voice mode, while the loudspeaker uses an 18 mm tweeter with dual force-cancelling 80 mm woofers. One USB-C cable extends the laptop display at 1920 x 1080 at 60 fps with touch redirect and passes camera, microphone and speakers to any software client.

Plan around two absolutes. There is no mounting accessory for the Desk Mini in any form, and USB-C is the only video input with no video output at all, so the device cannot drive a screen or accept an HDMI source. Cisco states up to 6 Mbps for best quality, which is what makes it viable away from the corporate LAN. Current alternatives and the migration target sit in the video conference systems and collaboration and presentation ranges of the Cisco collaboration portfolio.

Key Features

  • Distributor colour listing — The unit is listed as Desert Sand by the distributor. Cisco documents only First Light gray and Carbon Black for the Desk Mini. The end-of-sale notice lists this part number without a description, so the colour name is the distributor's wording and Cisco publishes no definition of the finish.
  • Integrated carry handle — Cisco states the Desk Mini is designed with an integrated handle that makes it easy to move from one room to another, so a single unit can serve several temporary or shared workspaces.
  • Three-element microphone system — Cisco specifies a premium 3-element microphone system for angle estimation and speech pickup, with acoustic echo cancellation, de-reverberation, noise removal and an optimize-for-my-voice mode.
  • Single-cable USB-C docking — One USB-C cable extends the laptop display at 1920 x 1080 at 60 fps where the computer supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode, forwards touch on supported operating systems, and shares the camera, microphone and speakers with any software client.
  • 15.6-inch touch display on a fixed tilt — A 15.6-inch IPS 1080p projected capacitive multi-touch panel sits at an 11-degree fixed tilt with a 20 cm display height, keeping the camera at a usable eye line on a small desk.
  • Low bandwidth requirement — Cisco states up to 6 Mbps for the best quality, which keeps the device workable on a home broadband connection or a constrained WAN link.
  • Physical mute and volume controls — Dedicated power, volume and mute buttons with mute, camera-shutter, camera-on and power indicators give tactile privacy control that does not depend on the touch interface.
  • End-of-sale lifecycle — Cisco published end-of-sale on July 13, 2026, a last ship date of October 14, 2026 and last date of support on July 31, 2031, with the Desk Pro G2 as the migration product.

Typical Applications

  • Multi-purpose room — spaces that change function through the day and need an endpoint that moves with them.
  • Commercial meeting space — flexible-desk areas where a fixed room system would be over-specified.
  • Training room — instructor positions carried between rooms as the timetable changes.
