Extron AAP and MAAP Architectural Adapter Plates

Extron AAP and MAAP modules are the connector standard that runs through Cable Cubby enclosures, wallplates, floor boxes, and rack panels. Creation Networks stocks the current AAP and MAAP catalog for U.S. integrators. For SKU selection and pricing, contact us through creationnetworks.net.

Product Families

  • AAP Architectural Adapter Plates — single and double space plates for AV, network, and audio connectors.
  • MAAP Mini Architectural Adapter Plates — compact modules that double connector density in the same opening.
  • AAP SuperPlate — pre-populated HDMI, USB 3 Type-A, USB-C, and network plates.
  • Mounting Frames and MK Adapters — AAP 100 and AAP 102 MK frames for junction boxes and wall openings.
  • Blank and Pass-Through Modules — blank plates, grommets, and cable pass-throughs for future expansion.
  • Network, Fiber, and XTP DTP Jack Modules — punch-down and terminated jack modules including CAT 6A.

Why Specify Extron AAP and MAAP

  • One connector standard reused across table boxes, wallplates, floor boxes, and racks
  • Very large module library spanning legacy analog through USB-C
  • MAAP modules double connector density where space is tight
  • Field serviceable: replace a single module instead of an entire plate
  • United States federal and state contract availability

Typical Applications

  • Conference tables and lecterns using Cable Cubby enclosures
  • Classroom and lecture hall wallplates
  • Equipment rack connector panels
  • Floor boxes and furniture-integrated connectivity
  • Government and healthcare rooms with mixed legacy and current sources

How AAP and MAAP Compare to Other Modular Plate Systems

AAP or MAAP: How the Extron Module System Fits Together

Extron architectural adapter plates solve a problem every integrator hits: getting the right connector to the right place without building a custom panel. AAP modules occupy one or two standard spaces and cover everything from HDMI and USB-C to RJ-45, XLR, captive screw audio, BNC, and fiber. MAAP mini modules fit two connectors into the space of one AAP, which is how you get a dense connector panel into a shallow Cable Cubby or a crowded wallplate. Pre-populated options such as the AAP SuperPlate and Flex55 Superplate give you HDMI, USB 3 Type-A, USB-C, and network in a single part number when you do not want to build the plate module by module.

Because the same modules drop into Cable Cubby table boxes, wallplates, floor boxes, mounting frames, and rack panels, standardizing on AAP and MAAP means one spare parts bin covers the whole building. Creation Networks stocks the module library plus the frames, MK adapters, and blanks that go with it.

Frequently Asked Questions About Extron AAP and MAAP

Q: What is the difference between AAP and MAAP?
A: AAP is the standard-size architectural adapter plate module. MAAP is the mini version, and two MAAP modules fit into the space of one AAP. Use MAAP when you need more connectors than the opening would normally allow.

Q: Where can AAP modules be installed?
A: In Extron Cable Cubby enclosures, wallplates, floor boxes, mounting frames such as the AAP 100 and AAP 102 MK, and rack connector panels. The same module works in all of them.

Q: Do I need a mounting frame?
A: Only for wall and box installations. Mounting frames such as the AAP 102 MK adapt AAP modules to MK junction boxes and drywall openings. Cable Cubby enclosures already have the module openings built in.

Q: Are blank modules worth ordering?
A: Yes. Blank AAP and MAAP plates close unused spaces for a finished look and let you add a connector later without pulling the whole assembly apart.

Q: What finishes are available?
A: Most AAP and MAAP modules are offered in black and white, and many plates are available in brushed aluminum to match Cable Cubby and Flex55 hardware.
