Built on SCTLink technology, the RC8 Gen2 system places an RC8-CE camera interface module behind the Cisco Quad Camera and an RC8-HE codec/head-end module at the equipment rack, linked by one CAT6 cable from 10 to 100 meters. The system extends power to the camera assembly, so no factory camera PSU is needed at the display end — a significant simplification when the camera is mounted far from power.

The RC8-CQC-PA configuration includes the new RC-RKPA rack shelf, which provides a custom cradle for the RC8 head-end module and its WPS-48 power supply in a single 1RU space. RC8 Gen2 adds native Cisco Control Hub integration, onboard diagnostics, and field-upgradeable firmware enhancements, giving IT teams visibility into the extension link from the same console they use to manage Cisco devices. A dual HDMI distribution amplifier on each HDMI channel supports applications that need the camera feed in more than one place.
