Product Overview

The NETGEAR M4250-26G4F-PoE++ Ultra90 (GSM4230UP-100NAS) is a fully managed AV switch engineered specifically for AV-over-IP deployments. This 24-port Gigabit PoE++ switch delivers up to 90W per port from a 1,440W PoE budget, making it suited to power-hungry endpoints such as PTZ cameras, displays, and networked lighting. Pre-configured AV profiles, a dedicated AV web GUI, and NETGEAR IGMP Plus simplify multicast setup for Dante, Q-SYS, and NVX video distribution workflows.

Product Description

NETGEAR M4250-26G4F-PoE++ Ultra90 GSM4230UP-100NAS 24x1G PoE++ AV switch

Built from the ground up for the AV Line family, the M4250-26G4F-PoE++ pairs 24 Ultra90 PoE++ copper ports with two 1G copper uplinks and four 1G SFP fiber ports. Ultra90 PoE++ supplies up to 90W per port, allowing a single switch to drive demanding powered AV endpoints without separate power injectors. The dedicated AV web GUI presents color-coded, port-based profiles that map directly to AV equipment, so installers configure multicast, VLANs, and QoS without deep IT scripting. Audio profiles cover Dante, Q-SYS, AES67, and AVB (AVB license sold separately), while video profiles include AMX SVSI, Crestron NVX, Q-SYS, NDI, and Dante. A full Layer 2/Layer 3 engine adds static, RIP, and PIM routing, a DHCP server, and PTPv2 timing. NETGEAR IGMP Plus provides Layer-2 multicast control without PIM for plug-and-play interconnect, complemented by Auto-Trunk and Auto-LAG. Reversible front- or rear-facing port mounting and selectable fan modes support clean integration into AV racks.

Key Features

  • 24x Ultra90 PoE++ ports — Each RJ45 port supplies up to 90W, drawing from a 1,440W total PoE budget for high-draw cameras, displays, and lighting.
  • Dedicated AV web GUI — Color-coded, port-based AV profiles speed configuration and reduce setup errors for AV technicians.
  • Audio profiles — Dante, Q-SYS, AES67, and AVB (AVB license sold separately) for installed and live sound networks.
  • Video profiles — AMX SVSI, Crestron NVX, Q-SYS, NDI, and Dante, plus mixed audio/video/control profiles.
  • NETGEAR IGMP Plus — Layer-2 multicast control with no PIM required, plus Auto-Trunk and Auto-LAG for multi-switch interconnect.
  • Full L2/L3 engine — Static, RIP, and PIM routing, DHCP server, and PTPv2 timing for synchronized AV-over-IP.
  • Flexible port and console options — 2x 1G RJ45 uplinks, 4x 1G SFP fiber, USB-C and RJ45 RS232 console, and out-of-band management.
  • AV-rack-ready hardware — Reversible front/rear port mounting and selectable fan modes for clean, quiet rack integration.

Typical Applications

  • House of worship — Centralized high-wattage PoE for cameras, displays, and networked audio across the sanctuary.
  • Auditorium — NDI, AMX SVSI, and Crestron NVX video distribution with PTPv2-synchronized audio.
  • Broadcast studio — Dante and NDI workflows that benefit from 90W PoE and deterministic multicast.
  • All-hands room — Large-display and PTZ-camera power consolidated onto a single managed switch.
  • Training room — Networked AV endpoints powered and managed through pre-built AV profiles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does every port deliver the full 90W at the same time?
No. Each Ultra90 port can supply up to 90W, but total simultaneous draw is capped by the 1,440W PoE budget. Size your endpoint power needs against that budget when planning a deployment.

Which AV-over-IP platforms does this switch support?
The AV GUI includes profiles for Dante, Q-SYS, AES67, and AVB (AVB license sold separately) audio, plus AMX SVSI, Crestron NVX, Q-SYS, NDI, and Dante video.

Do I need PIM or complex multicast configuration?
No. NETGEAR IGMP Plus handles multicast at Layer 2 without PIM, with Auto-Trunk and Auto-LAG for multi-switch interconnect. The L3 engine still supports PIM routing if your design requires it.

What warranty applies?
The M4250 series is covered by NETGEAR's ProSAFE limited lifetime hardware warranty.

Can Creation Networks help size PoE and select SFP modules?
