Crestron RMC4 – 4-Series Single-Room Control Processor

Crestron RMC4 4-Series single-room control processor commercial AV conference room automation

Product Overview

The Crestron RMC4 is a 4-Series single-room control processor that delivers full Crestron room automation capability in a compact surface-mount or DIN-rail-mountable form factor designed for single-space commercial AV deployments. Running the Crestron 4-Series control engine with SIMPL# and HTML5 UI support, it controls AV switching, display power, audio volume, lighting, shades, and HVAC from a single programmable processor — connecting to Crestron touch panels, keypad devices, CEN-IO expansion modules, and any IP, RS-232, IR, or relay-controlled device in the room. XiO Cloud enrollment enables remote provisioning and monitoring across enterprise AV deployments without on-site access.

Product Description

The RMC4 brings the full Crestron 4-Series control ecosystem to single-room deployments in a housing that mounts behind a display, under a table, or on a DIN rail in a local electrical enclosure — eliminating the need for a rack-mount enclosure in smaller or furniture-integrated commercial room control installations. Its 4-Series control engine runs the same SIMPL# and HTML5 UI programming environment as larger Crestron processors, ensuring full programming compatibility across a mixed-processor enterprise installation and allowing room programs developed for larger processors to run unmodified on the RMC4. Six Cresnet ports connect keypads, occupancy sensors, and lighting interfaces; RS-232, IR, and relay ports handle AV device control including displays, projectors, DSP processors, and motorized shades; and Ethernet provides IP control of networked AV equipment. The RMC4 pairs directly with Crestron TSW-770, TSW-1070, TS-770, and TS-1070 touch panels over Ethernet, presenting custom programmed room control interfaces to room users. XiO Cloud enrollment via the Crestron device registration process enables IT and AV operations teams to deploy firmware updates, push configuration changes, and monitor processor health across a fleet of RMC4 single-room systems without site visits.

Key Features

  • 4-Series Control Engine: Full Crestron 4-Series processing power with SIMPL# and HTML5 UI programming support — same programming environment as larger Crestron processors, ensuring program compatibility across mixed-processor enterprise AV deployments.
  • Compact Non-Rack Form Factor: Surface-mountable behind displays, under tables, and on DIN rails — eliminates the need for a rack-mount enclosure in furniture-integrated conference rooms, huddle spaces, and small commercial meeting spaces.
  • Multi-Protocol Device Control: Ethernet IP, RS-232, IR emitter, and relay outputs enable control of any commercially available AV device — displays, projectors, matrix switchers, DSP processors, motorized screens, and lighting systems from a single processor.
  • Cresnet Peripheral Support: Six Cresnet ports connect Crestron keypads, occupancy sensors, lighting controllers, shade motors, and other Cresnet-bus devices without additional network switch ports or IP addresses per device.
  • Touch Panel Integration: Direct Ethernet pairing with Crestron TSW-770, TSW-1070, TS-770, and TS-1070 series touch panels for full-featured custom room control interfaces without intermediate interface hardware.
  • XiO Cloud Management: Enrolls in Crestron XiO Cloud for remote provisioning, firmware management, alert monitoring, and configuration deployment across enterprise RMC4 fleet deployments without on-site access.
  • Versiport Digital I/O: Configurable digital I/O ports support contact closure inputs from push buttons, occupancy sensors, and door contacts alongside relay outputs for motorized devices and power control.
  • USB Programming Port: Front-panel USB programming port enables local firmware updates and program uploads during initial commissioning without network access.

Typical Applications

  • Conference rooms with Crestron touch panel control for AV source switching, display power, volume, and room automation without an equipment rack
  • Huddle rooms and small meeting spaces with behind-display or under-table RMC4 mounting and wall-mount touch panel or keypad control
  • Training rooms with instructor AV control including projector, screen, audio, and lighting automation from a single compact processor
  • Executive offices and boardrooms requiring full-featured Crestron room automation in a non-rack installation
  • Commercial meeting spaces with Crestron scheduling integration and occupancy-based room automation
  • Government meeting rooms requiring TAA-compliant commercial AV control with Cresnet peripheral integration
  • Retail and commercial environments with display control, digital signage scheduling, and background audio automation from a compact installation

Frequently Asked Questions

What Crestron touch panels pair with the RMC4?
The RMC4 pairs directly over Ethernet with Crestron TSW-770 and TSW-1070 wall-mount touch screens, TS-770 and TS-1070 tabletop touch screens, and TST-902 wireless touch screen. It also supports keypad devices connected via Cresnet. Contact Creation Networks for touch panel selection guidance.

Does the RMC4 require a rack enclosure?
No — the RMC4 is designed for surface mounting behind displays, under conference tables, and on DIN rails in local electrical enclosures. This makes it the preferred choice for conference rooms without an equipment rack. Rack-mount versions are available in larger Crestron processor models such as the CP4 and CP4N.

Can the RMC4 control lighting and shade systems?
Yes — via Cresnet lighting controllers, relay outputs for motorized shades, and digital I/O for contact-closure lighting interfaces. The RMC4 integrates with Crestron lighting control devices and third-party systems with relay or IP interfaces. Contact Creation Networks for lighting and shade integration guidance.

How is the RMC4 provisioned remotely across a large enterprise?
The RMC4 enrolls in Crestron XiO Cloud, enabling IT and AV operations teams to push firmware updates, deploy configuration changes, and monitor processor health across all enrolled RMC4 processors from a centralized cloud management console without on-site access.

Is the RMC4 TAA compliant for government procurement?
Verify current TAA compliance status at crestron.com or contact Creation Networks for government procurement guidance.

What is the warranty on the Crestron RMC4?
Crestron provides a standard 3-year limited warranty. Contact Creation Networks for warranty service and extended support options.
