Product Overview

The Crestron DM-NVX-384C is a high-performance AV-over-IP encoder/decoder card that transports up to 5K video over standard Gigabit Ethernet. It installs as a single plug-in card in a DMF-CI-8 card chassis and can operate as either a transmitter or a receiver. With a built-in 4x1 input switcher for two HDMI and two USB-C sources, it consolidates source switching and network distribution into one high-density endpoint. The DM-NVX-384C is engineered for enterprise AV systems that demand high resolution, low latency, and secure content delivery.

Product Description

As an AV-over-IP endpoint, the DM-NVX-384C uses Crestron Pixel Perfect Processing to deliver visually lossless 4K60 4:4:4 video with no perceptible latency across a standard Ethernet network. In encoder mode it provides a 4x1 switcher across two HDMI and two USB-C (DisplayPort Alt Mode) inputs, while in decoder mode it offers a 5x1 switcher with a 4K60 4:4:4 scaler and video wall processing up to 8 wide by 8 high. The card supports HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and Deep Color, along with multichannel audio up to 8-channel LPCM and encoded HBR 7.1 surround sound. Native AES67 transmit and receive capability, USB 2.0 and KVM routing, and analog audio breakaway expand its role in collaboration and signage systems. Connectivity includes two 100BASE-TX/1000BASE-T copper ports plus an SFP port for fiber using a Crestron SFP-1G transceiver (sold separately). Content is protected with HDCP 2.3, AES-128 encryption, and PKI authentication, and the card integrates with Crestron 3-Series or later control systems. The DM-NVX-384C is designed for scalable rack-mount deployments where many endpoints share a common chassis.

Key Features

  • 5K AV-over-IP — Transports resolutions up to 5120x2880 at 30 Hz or 5120x1440 at 60 Hz over standard Gigabit Ethernet.
  • Pixel Perfect Processing — Delivers visually lossless 4K60 4:4:4 video with no perceptible latency between encoder and decoder.
  • Built-in 4x1 input switcher — Switches between two HDMI and two USB-C inputs in encoder mode with manual or auto-switching and breakaway audio.
  • Decoder scaling and video wall — Provides a 4K60 4:4:4 scaler with video wall processing up to 8 wide by 8 high in decoder mode.
  • HDR and Deep Color support — Handles HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and Deep Color content end to end.
  • USB and KVM routing — Extends USB 2.0 host and device signals over the network for KVM integration.
  • AES67 audio networking — Natively transmits and receives 2-channel AES67 audio alongside the AV stream.
  • Fiber and copper connectivity — Includes dual copper Ethernet ports and an SFP port for fiber using a Crestron SFP-1G transceiver.
  • Secure content delivery — Protects streams with HDCP 2.3, AES-128 encryption, PKI authentication, and IEEE 802.1X.

Typical Applications

  • Enterprise conference rooms and huddle spaces requiring high-density source switching.
  • Command-and-control centers and operations rooms with large video walls.
  • Higher education lecture halls and active learning classrooms.
  • Corporate digital signage and lobby display networks.
  • Broadcast, post-production, and creative facilities needing 4K60 4:4:4 KVM.
  • Houses of worship and large venues distributing AV over IP.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the DM-NVX-384C require a special chassis? Yes. It is a plug-in card that occupies one card slot in a Crestron DMF-CI-8 card chassis.

Can a single card act as both an encoder and a decoder? The card can be configured to operate as either a transmitter (encoder) or a receiver (decoder), but not both simultaneously.

What network is required? A nonblocking Gigabit network is required. The minimum copper cable for DM NVX over 1000BASE-T is unshielded CAT5e.

How is fiber connectivity handled? Ethernet port 3 is an SFP port that accepts a Crestron SFP-1G Series transceiver module, sold separately.

Is the content encrypted? Yes. Streams are protected with HDCP 2.3, AES-128 content encryption, and PKI authentication.

What warranty applies? The DM-NVX-384C is covered by the Crestron 3-year limited warranty. For specification or integration assistance, Contact Creation Networks.
