Product Overview

The Crestron DIN-HUB is a DIN rail-mounted Cresnet distribution hub designed to expand and organize large Cresnet networks. It provides three isolated Cresnet segments with configurable power distribution and requires no programming. The 6-module-wide form factor snaps onto a standard 35 mm DIN rail alongside Crestron DIN Rail lighting and automation modules. It is intended for Cresnet networks with more than approximately 20 devices.

Product Description

Cresnet is the communications backbone for Crestron lighting modules, dimmers, shade controllers, thermostats, keypads, touch panels, and other devices, and the 4-wire bus normally supports about 20 devices without a hub. The DIN-HUB extends this with three isolated segments, each supporting roughly an additional 20 devices, for systems of approximately 80 devices total including the host segment. Additional hubs may be added toward a maximum potential of 252 devices on a complete Cresnet network. Beyond data, Cresnet carries 24VDC for powering connected devices, and the DIN-HUB manages this distribution per segment: each segment can draw from the host power source or a dedicated external supply, and a single supply may be shared across segments, with each segment supporting up to 75 W. Wiring connects through detachable screw terminals along the top and bottom, accessible from the front for installation and servicing. Diagnostic LED indicators on the center front panel show power and bus activity for the host and each segment. The light gray polycarbonate housing is UL94 V-0 rated and occupies 6 DIN module spaces.

Key Features

  • Three isolated segments — Each segment supports approximately 20 additional Cresnet devices.
  • Configurable power distribution — Each segment draws from the host or a dedicated supply, up to 75 W per segment.
  • DIN rail mounting — Snaps onto a standard 35 mm DIN rail in a 6-module-wide form factor.
  • No programming required — Operates as a passive distribution hub once wired.
  • Front-accessible terminals — Detachable screw terminals along the top and bottom simplify installation and servicing.
  • Diagnostic indicators — Front-panel LEDs report power and bus activity for the host and each segment.
  • Scalable networks — Multiple hubs expand toward a maximum potential of 252 devices.
  • Low self-consumption — Draws only 0.6 W (0.03 A @ 24VDC) of Cresnet power.

Typical Applications

  • Large lighting control systems — Distributing Cresnet across many DIN rail dimmers and modules.
  • Multi-room automation — Segmenting keypads, thermostats, and shade controllers by zone.
  • Equipment room enclosures — DIN rail integration with other Crestron and third-party modules.
  • Cresnet network expansion — Adding capacity and isolated power beyond the ~20-device limit.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many devices can the DIN-HUB support? It adds three isolated segments of approximately 20 devices each, for around 80 devices total including the host segment. Multiple hubs can expand a network toward the 252-device maximum.

Does it require programming? No. The DIN-HUB is a passive distribution device and requires no programming.

How is each segment powered? Each segment can receive power from the host source or a dedicated external supply, and a single supply may be shared across segments, with each segment supporting up to 75 W.

Can it be powered from a device on a segment? No. The DIN-HUB is powered via the NET HOST port; power cannot be supplied from devices connected to the segments.
