Product Overview
The Blackmagic Design ATEM Television Studio 4K8 is an all-in-one live production switcher built into a broadcast control panel, designed for television studios, remote production, and live venues. It combines eight 12G-SDI inputs supporting up to UHD 4K60, built-in hardware streaming, a 58-channel Fairlight audio mixer, four Advanced Chroma Keyers, and internal recording into a single portable unit.
Product Description
The ATEM Television Studio 4K8 gives you a complete broadcast-grade switcher with program and two aux outputs, professional camera control, talkback, and audio mixing in a familiar broadcast panel layout. Each of the eight 12G-SDI inputs has its own dedicated standards converter, so sources running at different video standards re-sync to the switcher automatically. The built-in hardware streaming engine sends live H.264 streams with AAC audio over RTMP, and you can record program output to USB disks or an optional internal M.2 drive, with files shared over the local network for editing while you record.
Production control is handled from the redesigned front panel — program/preview rows, a T-bar for manual transitions, a three-axis joystick, and a dedicated audio mixer area with live LCD metering — or from the free ATEM Software Control app on macOS and Windows. Creative tools include four Advanced Chroma Keyers, two downstream keyers, a SuperSource multi-layer processor, DVE effects, two media players, and a wide range of SMPTE wipes and transitions. Blackmagic Cloud integration makes program recordings available from anywhere, and the unit ships with both AC and 12V XLR DC power inputs for redundancy or battery operation.

FAQ
What's the difference between the 4K8 and the HD8? The 4K8 supports UHD 4K60 across its eight 12G-SDI inputs with twelve SDI outputs, while the ATEM Television Studio HD8 operates at 1080p60 with eight SDI inputs and outputs.
Can each input be a different video standard? Yes — every one of the eight 12G-SDI inputs has its own dedicated standards converter, so mixed-format sources re-sync automatically.
Does it stream without a computer? Yes — it has a built-in hardware streaming engine that outputs H.264/AAC over RTMP.
Can I expand the microphone inputs? Yes — the ATEM Microphone Converter connects over MADI to add mic/line inputs with phantom power, and units can be daisy-chained.
Is redundant power supported? Yes — it has both an AC mains input and a 12V XLR DC input for backup or battery operation.
