Product Overview
The Acroname USBHub 3+ (S79-USBHUB-3P) is a 9-port software-controlled programmable industrial USB hub built for commercial AV, engineering, and manufacturing environments where per-port power and data control are required. Eight individually addressable downstream USB-A ports operate at USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps), making this hub the preferred choice for BYOD conference room deployments and USB device test labs alike. Acroname's auto-switching technology reassigns all connected peripherals to a newly connected laptop instantly, then returns to the room's default host on disconnect — no manual switching required. Built and tested in the USA with a steel enclosure, ±15kV ESD protection, and DIN rail mounting support, the USBHub 3+ is a commercial-grade USB hub engineered for environments where downtime is not acceptable.
Product Description

The Acroname USBHub 3+ gives integrators and engineers complete per-port control over USB data and power — a capability absent from any consumer or standard commercial hub. Each of the 8 downstream USB-A ports can have its Hi-Speed (480 Mbps) data lines, SuperSpeed (5 Gbps) data lines, and Vbus power independently enabled or disabled via software. This makes the USBHub 3+ the right tool for conference room AV integration, USB regression testing labs, device manufacturing, and any application requiring precise per-port USB management.

Two upstream host inputs (Up0 and Up1) plus a dedicated Control Port allow a third system to independently monitor and manage the hub regardless of which upstream is active. In a commercial meeting space, Acroname's auto-switching detects a BYOD laptop on Up0 and automatically grants access to all connected peripherals — cameras, microphones, and touch panels. When the presenter disconnects, all peripherals revert to the room's primary host without user interaction or AV control system commands.
Per-port current limits are software-programmable from 0 to 4,095 mA with 1 mA resolution. Real-time voltage and current measurements are available on every port with ±2% and ±1% accuracy respectively. Each port delivers up to 5A, with a total system output of approximately 70W supporting cameras, tablets, and other high-draw peripherals simultaneously. The hub ships with a 60W 12VDC power supply, keeping operation independent of host bus power.
The USBHub 3+ is DIN rail mountable via the optional C31-DINM-1 kit, and accepts both barrel and Phoenix terminal block power inputs for flexible installation in rack or panel environments. Acroname's BrainStem® API provides Python and C++ control on macOS, Linux, and Windows. The HubTool GUI enables zero-code port monitoring. BrainStem's embedded runtime also allows fully autonomous hub operation — user-defined automation scripts run directly on the hub with no host computer required. Rated to IEC61000-4-2 Level 4 (±15kV ESD), 0°C–50°C operation, with an MTBF of 92.8 years for the hub assembly.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the USBHub 3+ and a standard commercial USB hub?
The USBHub 3+ provides individual software control over each port's Hi-Speed data, SuperSpeed data, and power lines independently. Standard commercial hubs offer no per-port control or monitoring, and none support dual upstream hosts or BYOD auto-switching.
Can the USBHub 3+ integrate with an AV control system like Crestron or AMX?
Yes. The BrainStem® API (Python and C++) enables custom integration with any control system that can run host-side software. The dedicated Control Port allows independent hub access regardless of which upstream host is active.
What operating systems are supported?
macOS 10.8 and later, Linux, and Windows 7 through Windows 11 (32-bit and 64-bit). The BrainStem SDK and HubTool GUI run natively on all three.
Is the USBHub 3+ TAA compliant?
A TAA-compliant unit is available as an add-on (T79-TAA, $100), required for U.S. federal government procurement under the Trade Agreements Act.
Can the hub operate without a connected host computer?
Yes. The BrainStem® embedded runtime supports user-defined automation programs that execute directly on the hub without any connected host, enabling fully autonomous operation.
Is a NIST calibration certificate available?
Yes. An optional NIST calibration certificate (Y79-USBHUB-CAL, $125) is available for applications requiring traceable measurement accuracy on voltage and current readings.
What warranty is included?
The standard warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship. An optional 1-year extended warranty (W11-USBHUB-3P-1Y, $100) is available through Creation Networks or Acroname.
What is the maximum total power output?
Each downstream port can supply up to 5A. With a higher-capacity supply, total system output approaches 70W — enough for 8 high-draw USB devices operating simultaneously.
