Challenge 1: Modernizing a Legacy Crestron Room for Zoom Integration
THE SOLUTION
To address these issues, the following upgrades were implemented:
- Redesigned Crestron System for Zoom Integration: The room was reconfigured to allow seamless toggling between the Zoom Rooms application and the Crestron touch screen control mode. This setup enables users to manage various room features such as power, volume, and input selection directly from the touch panel.
- Software and Firmware Updates: All Crestron software and firmware were updated to the latest versions to ensure compatibility and optimal performance with Zoom Rooms.
- Audio System Reprogramming: The audio system was thoroughly tested and reprogrammed to enhance microphone clarity and overall sound quality, ensuring clear communication during meetings.
- Microphone and DSP Upgrades: Microphone and Digital Signal Processor (DSP) software and firmware were updated to improve audio processing capabilities.
- Crestron XPanel Installation: Crestron XPanel was installed and configured, allowing users to control the room from an owner-furnished iPad, desktop, phone or laptop.

Challenge 2: Automating a 3-Way Divisible Room for Flexible Configurations
THE SOLUTION
To create a flexible and automated environment, the following steps were taken:
- System Troubleshooting: The existing AV system was thoroughly assessed to identify and resolve issues preventing seamless operation across different room configurations.
- Partition Sensor: The existing AV system was did not automate the control system to allow for the various partitions. We added a Crestron Partition sensor and programming to deliver acompletly automated solution. This allowed for amazing audio and video quality with any configuration.
- Custom Programming: The AV system was reprogrammed to support dynamic room combinations, allowing users to divide or combine rooms effortlessly. This programming enabled automatic adjustments of audio and video settings based on the selected room configuration.
- Zoom Integration: Zoom Rooms functionality was incorporated into the system, providing users with the ability to conduct video conferences in any room configuration.
- Camera and Microphone Control: Users gained the capability to control and switch cameras, as well as manage microphones, through an intuitive interface tailored to the room's current layout.
- Labor Investment: The project required 16 hours of technician labor and 16 hours of engineer labor to complete the necessary upgrades and programming.
The result was a versatile, user-friendly conference space that adapts to various meeting needs, enhancing collaboration and productivity
