It carries the same encoding capability as Magewell's standalone Pro Convert HDMI 4K Plus in a module that installs in the Modator 2U chassis. It suits high-density AV-over-IP systems where many 4K sources need encoding in one rack with redundant power.

How does the Magewell Pro Convert HDMI 4K Plus Module work?

The module slides into a Modator 2U slot and takes power and cooling from the chassis. It accepts HDMI up to 4096×2160 60p with HDMI loop-through and encodes NDI High Bandwidth up to 4K60, or high frame rates at lower resolutions, with eight channels of embedded audio. Scaling, frame-rate conversion and EDID settings are configured per module.

Each module has its own network connection and web interface and is also managed through the chassis touchscreen and Magewell Control Hub, or through HTTP APIs. Because modules are hot-swappable, one can be replaced without interrupting the other channels in the chassis.

What are the key features of the Magewell Pro Convert HDMI 4K Plus Module?

4K60 full NDI — Encodes HDMI up to 4K60 as NDI High Bandwidth with very low latency.

HDMI loop-through — Passes the source to a local display.

Hot-swappable — Replaces without powering down the chassis.

Rack density — Ten channels per 2RU Modator chassis with redundant power.

Central management — Configured through web UI, chassis touchscreen, Control Hub or HTTP APIs.

Where is the Magewell Pro Convert HDMI 4K Plus Module typically used?

Broadcast studio

Auditorium

Government space

All-hands room

Technical Specifications

<colgroup>
<col style="width:40%">
<col style="width:60%">
</colgroup>

Video input

HDMI up to 4096×2160 60p; loop-through

NDI encoding

NDI High Bandwidth up to 4K60 4:2:2 8-bit

Audio

8-ch HDMI embedded, carried in NDI

Network

Gigabit Ethernet per module

Management

Web UI, Modator touchscreen, Magewell Control Hub, HTTP APIs

Host chassis

Magewell Modator 2U (required)

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it work without the chassis?
No. It requires the Magewell Modator 2U.
