It decodes NDI High Bandwidth, NDI HX, HX2 and HX3 as well as SRT, RTSP, RTMP, HLS, HTTP and MPEG-TS at up to 2K60, outputs SDI up to 1080p60 and carries native CEA-608 captions. It links IP-based sources to SDI switchers, recorders, routers and monitors.

How does the Magewell Pro Convert for NDI to SDI work?

The decoder discovers NDI sources across network segments and decodes the selected stream with SpeedHQ, H.264 or H.265 video and AAC or MP3 audio. It outputs SD, HD or 3G-SDI up to 1920×1080 60p with eight channels of 48 kHz audio, drives 3G-SDI over cable runs beyond 100 m, and passes native CEA-608 and 608-over-708 captions for accessible broadcast output. Image flip and safe-area controls help with projector and monitor installs.

It is set up through its web interface, on-board menu buttons, a USB keyboard and mouse, Magewell Control Hub or HTTP APIs, and powers from 802.3af PoE or its 5 V supply. Magewell publishes Q-SYS and Crestron plugins for the decoder so a control system can select sources from a touch panel.

What are the key features of the Magewell Pro Convert for NDI to SDI?

NDI and stream decoding — Decodes NDI High Bandwidth, NDI HX/HX2/HX3, SRT, RTSP, RTMP, HLS and MPEG-TS up to 2K60.

3G-SDI output — Outputs SD/HD/3G-SDI up to 1080p60 over runs beyond 100 m.

Closed captions — Carries native CEA-608 and 608-over-708 captions on the SDI output.

8-channel audio — Outputs 48 kHz 8-channel embedded audio.

PoE powered — Runs from an 802.3af PoE switch port.

Control-system integration — Q-SYS and Crestron plugins plus HTTP APIs.

Where is the Magewell Pro Convert for NDI to SDI typically used?

Broadcast studio

Government space

House of worship

Auditorium

Technical Specifications

<colgroup>
<col style="width:40%">
<col style="width:60%">
</colgroup>

Decoded streams

NDI High Bandwidth, NDI HX/HX2/HX3, RTSP, HTTP, HLS, RTMP pull/push, MPEG-TS over UDP/SRT/RTP; up to 2K60

Codecs

SpeedHQ, H.264, H.265; AAC, MP3

Video output

SD/HD/3G-SDI (ST 259, 292, 425); up to 1920×1080 60p

Captions

Native CEA-608 and 608 over 708

Audio output

48 kHz 8-channel

Network

Gigabit Ethernet with 802.3af PoE

Management

Web UI, buttons, USB keyboard/mouse, Control Hub, HTTP APIs

Power

PoE or 5 V; about 5.5 W max

Size

100.9 × 60.2 × 23.3 mm

Operating temp

0 to 40 °C

Included

5 V adapter, USB cable, L-bracket

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it carry closed captions?
Yes.
