It decodes NDI High Bandwidth, NDI HX, HX2 and HX3 and SRT, RTSP, RTMP, HLS, HTTP and MPEG-TS streams at up to 4K60. It is the 4K receive end of an NDI system, matched to 4K encoders such as the Pro Convert HDMI 4K Plus.

How does the Magewell Pro Convert for NDI to HDMI 4K work?

The decoder discovers NDI sources on the network and decodes the selected stream with SpeedHQ, H.264 or H.265 video and AAC or MP3 audio, at up to 4096×2160 60p. It outputs over HDMI 1.4/2.0 at the format the connected display prefers, including high-refresh 1440p up to 144 Hz, with eight channels of 96 kHz audio. Output resolution, deinterlacing, alpha blending, on-screen display, audio gain, sample rate and channel mapping are configurable.

Besides NDI, it decodes SRT, RTSP, RTMP, HLS and MPEG-TS streams. It is managed through its web interface, Magewell Control Hub or HTTP APIs, and Magewell publishes Q-SYS and Crestron plugins for the Pro Convert decoders so a control system can switch sources from a touch panel.

What are the key features of the Magewell Pro Convert for NDI to HDMI 4K?

4K60 decoding — Decodes NDI High Bandwidth, NDI HX/HX2/HX3 and IP streams up to 4096×2160 60p.

HDMI 2.0 output — Outputs 4K60 or high-refresh formats to match the display.

Multi-protocol input — Decodes SRT, RTSP, RTMP, HLS, HTTP and MPEG-TS as well as NDI.

8-channel audio — Outputs 96 kHz 8-channel audio with channel mapping.

Alpha blending — Supports alpha blending for graphics and overlay workflows.

Control-system integration — Q-SYS and Crestron plugins plus HTTP APIs.

Where is the Magewell Pro Convert for NDI to HDMI 4K typically used?

Auditorium

Broadcast studio

House of worship

Boardroom

All-hands room

Technical Specifications

<colgroup>
<col style="width:40%">
<col style="width:60%">
</colgroup>

Decoded streams

NDI High Bandwidth, NDI HX/HX2/HX3, RTSP, HTTP, HLS, RTMP pull/push, MPEG-TS over UDP/SRT/RTP; up to 4K60

Codecs

SpeedHQ, H.264, H.265; AAC, MP3

Video output

HDMI 1.4/2.0; up to 4096×2160 60p; 1440p up to 144 Hz

Audio output

96 kHz 16-bit 8-channel

NDI version

NDI 6.2

Management

Web UI, Magewell Control Hub, HTTP APIs

Power

5 V; about 7.2 W max

Size

117.5 × 66.7 × 23.4 mm

Included

5 V adapter, USB cable, L-bracket

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference from the NDI to HDMI model?
This model decodes 4K60 source streams; the standard NDI to HDMI decodes up to 2K60.

What streams can it decode besides NDI?
SRT, RTSP, RTMP, HLS, HTTP and MPEG-TS in H.264 or H.265.

Does it work with Q-SYS or Crestron?
Yes.
