It decodes NDI High Bandwidth, NDI HX, HX2 and HX3 as well as SRT, RTSP, RTMP, HLS, HTTP and MPEG-TS streams at up to 2K60, and outputs HDMI at up to 4K60 to match the connected display. It is the receive end of an NDI or AV-over-IP system, putting network video on any HDMI screen.

How does the Magewell Pro Convert for NDI to HDMI work?

The decoder connects to the network, discovers NDI sources across network segments and decodes the selected stream with SpeedHQ, H.264 or H.265 video and AAC or MP3 audio. It reads the EDID of the connected monitor and outputs the format the display prefers — up to 4096×2160 60p over HDMI 1.4/2.0 — with eight channels of 48 kHz audio. Deinterlacing, output resolution, on-screen display, audio gain, sample rate and channel mapping are all configurable.

The same box decodes SRT, RTSP, RTMP, HLS and MPEG-TS streams, so it can display a streaming encoder's output or a remote feed as easily as an NDI source. It is managed through its web interface, Magewell Control Hub or HTTP APIs, and Magewell publishes Q-SYS and Crestron plugins for the Pro Convert decoders so a control system can switch sources from a touch panel.

What are the key features of the Magewell Pro Convert for NDI to HDMI?

NDI and stream decoding — Decodes NDI High Bandwidth, NDI HX/HX2/HX3, SRT, RTSP, RTMP, HLS and MPEG-TS up to 2K60.

HDMI output up to 4K60 — Matches the display's preferred format through its EDID.

Cross-segment discovery — Finds NDI sources across network segments and VLANs.

8-channel audio — Outputs 48 kHz 8-channel audio over HDMI with channel mapping.

Control-system integration — Q-SYS and Crestron plugins plus HTTP APIs for source switching.

NDI 6.3 — Current NDI version for compatibility with modern NDI encoders.

Where is the Magewell Pro Convert for NDI to HDMI typically used?

Conference room

Training room

Auditorium

House of worship

Multi-purpose room

Broadcast studio

Technical Specifications

<colgroup>
<col style="width:40%">
<col style="width:60%">
</colgroup>

Decoded streams

NDI High Bandwidth, NDI HX/HX2/HX3, RTSP, HTTP, HLS, RTMP pull/push, MPEG-TS over UDP/SRT/RTP; up to 2K60

Codecs

SpeedHQ, H.264, H.265; AAC, MP3

Video output

HDMI 1.4/2.0; up to 4096×2160 60p 4:4:4 8-bit, per display EDID

Audio output

48 kHz 8-channel

NDI version

NDI 6.3

Management

Web UI, Magewell Control Hub, HTTP APIs

Frequently Asked Questions

What streams can it decode besides NDI?
SRT, RTSP, RTMP pull and push, HLS, HTTP and MPEG-TS over UDP, SRT or RTP, in H.264 or H.265.

What resolution does it output?
Up to 4K60 over HDMI, matched to the display's EDID; it decodes source streams up to 2K60.
