It selects one of two inputs, HDMI or USB-C, then equalizes, re-clocks and distributes that signal to eight identical HDMI outputs at up to 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 with HDCP 2.3. It is built for spaces where one presenter or media source has to reach many screens, such as large training rooms, divisible spaces, lobbies and overflow seating.

How does the Kramer DA3-28-H work?

Either the HDMI or USB-C input is selected, and the signal is regenerated before it is split to eight HDMI 2.0b outputs at up to 18Gbps. Smart output scaling downscales 4K sources to 1080p on any output whose display does not support 4K, so a mixed display fleet can share one feed.

EDID can come from the connected display or a default, with EDID lock and Force RGB options. Selectable HDCP authorization lets integrators present a non-HDCP input when protection-free content such as personal clips and charts needs to reach equipment without HDCP support.

A CEC mediator with flexible routing powers displays on and off, the RS-232 port can be configured to control external devices, and analog audio is de-embedded from the HDMI or USB-C input for a local sound system. The unit runs from 24V DC and installs above a ceiling or side by side in a rack.

What are the key features of the Kramer DA3-28-H?

2x1:8 switching and distribution — Selects HDMI or USB-C and feeds eight identical HDMI outputs.

4K@60Hz 4:4:4 — Supports HDCP 2.3 content at up to 18Gbps.

Smart output scaling — Downscales 4K to 1080p only for displays that need it.

Intelligent EDID handling — Display or default EDID with lock and Force RGB options.

Selectable HDCP authorization — Passes protection-free content to non-HDCP equipment.

CEC mediator — Flexible CEC routing to manage display power.

Analog audio output — De-embedded from the HDMI or USB-C input.

Configurable RS-232 — Controls external devices such as displays or projectors.

Where is the Kramer DA3-28-H typically used?

Training room

Auditorium

All-hands room

Multi-purpose room

House of worship

Government space

Conference room

Technical Specifications

<colgroup>
<col style="width:40%">
<col style="width:60%">
</colgroup>

Inputs

1 HDMI, 1 USB-C

Outputs

8 HDMI, analog audio

Max bandwidth

18Gbps (6Gbps per graphic channel)

Max resolution

4K@60Hz 4:4:4, 24bpp

Content protection

HDCP 2.3

Compliance

HDMI 2.0b

Power

24V DC, 79W max consumption

Operating temperature

0° to +40°C (32° to 104°F)

Humidity

10% to 90% RH, non-condensing

Dimensions

21.46 x 16.30 x 4.36cm (8.45 x 6.42 x 1.72in) W, D, H

Weight

1.3kg (2.8lbs) approx.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the DA3-28-H and DA3-24-H?

Both switch HDMI or USB-C inputs; the DA3-28-H distributes to eight HDMI outputs and the DA3-24-H to four.

Can it mix 4K and 1080p displays?

Yes.
